50BMGSupply.com is supposed to be getting some Raufoss ammo in if you want to get some. $50 each 1 to 4 rounds, $45 each up to 49 rounds, $43 each up to 99 rounds. I'm not sure on pricing after that.

I only want 1 for collection purposes. Just thought I'd let others know. I wish I got some years ago when they were cheaper. It would be fun to shoot a round maybe once a year.

I would love to have a couple of these, but I can't justify the cost.
|

[#7]
Doubtful, if they don't check before buying them and then reselling...
I have 4, first one was $15, second was free, 3rd $20 and last was $40. Only problem is that they reside in another state. |

I ordered a few of these as a birthday present for myself. IThey sold out of the first batch they had and have another arriving in a month. If you order now they will pay the shipping cost for your wait. You will be told so by an email.
My uncle is a radiologist so I'll take them and get them x-rayed at some point. Almost 20mm performance from the 50 was too big of a temptation. |

Well, I'm out of luck. I've always wanted some for the collection, but apparently Florida isn't quite the "Gunshine State".

For those that plan to shoot a few of these rounds, let's hear some awesome things to shoot at. What would be appropriate to demonstrate what a $50 plus round can do?

First, a 55 gal drum full of tannerite.
Second, a semi truck engine. Third, the largest propane tank you can buy and fill to the max. Fourth, someone else's surplus tank or armored personnel carrier. One that doesn't work, would hate to shoot a good one. To keep going, a few layers of ballistic glass, like 4-5 inches of it. An armored car, limo, whatever as long as it looks good. A helicopter, plane, body shot or engine shot would be great. Maybe fill it with tannerite for the added excitement. Maybe a safe or just the door to see if you could blast it open. The blade of a bulldozer, those things are tuff! The Pope mobile, just to see what could happen. Yes, the Pope can bless it and wait outside. Sheesh... |

They are currently saying the next shipment will be in June 13th and current orders will be shipped no later than the next day.

It would be nice if others could use those ranges for unofficial training. It's a pain trying to find long ranges for public use. MY reason for wanting one is for collecting. I'd like to get as many types of 50 BMG ammo as I can. Have you used mk 300 mod 0? Other than adding tracer compound, it's the same as the mk 211.

I just have a sniper attachment for deployment, not MTOE to my unit. |

I don't want to piss in anyone's cheerios but I would not pay $40 a round for those unless it is an investment. We shot 240 rounds 2 weeks ago in the desert at old tank hulls. cool, but not $50 cool. Seeing your splash in brilliant white at 1375m was neat though. One of my shooters talked about accidently burning down an book store in Iraq with them http://<a href=http://i613.photobucket.com/albums/tt211/wvusoldier217/IMG_2221_zpsvleyyfpx.jpg</a>" /> <a href="http://s613.photobucket.com/user/wvusoldier217/media/IMG_2158_zpscdxkvsay.jpg.html" target="_blank">http://i613.photobucket.com/albums/tt211/wvusoldier217/IMG_2158_zpscdxkvsay.jpg</a>" />http://<a href=http://i613.photobucket.com/albums/tt211/wvusoldier217/IMG_2201_zpsexsvynnm.jpg</a>" />http://<a href=http://i613.photobucket.com/albums/tt211/wvusoldier217/IMG_2204_zpspucvjkw9.jpg</a>" /> View Quote Sweet dude! . [#25]
No impact photos, all our targets were 800m and beyond. It was impossible to time. I wanted to drive down to check effects, but that is not an American range and is littered with UXO. They were old T-30s getting hit on profile, we were fairly certain they were penetrating.

[#26]
+1 to the "Not to rain on the parade but..."
Mk211 is cool, and definitely has some pop to it, but API is pretty darn effective as well, and a LOT cheaper. Sparkles! |

+1 I'll take an api that I paid 23 cents for any day over a $50 round. That's a crazy price.
|
|
[#29]
API is fun, I'll admit that. There just something about having a Mk211 round though. Will I shoot one of them just to try it? I don't know. I'd rather get my hands on some dim tracers and find a place to watch them be shot at night with NVGs.
|
|
[#30]
Those are probably harder to find then Mk-211 rounds. Not sure if they still make them, haven't seen any pink tip ammo for sale.
Even the places that have all kinds of rounds for sale don't have any. The one I have came by a friend of a friend. And is another round I have to keep out of state. |

I assume because of the fire hazard caused by idiots that aren't careful with them. |
|
[#32]
For the most part yes, to many idiots not using them in a responsible manor. If all the brush around you is dry, why would you fire a round that can start a raging fire in seconds?
I've seen API start fires more then 10ft away from where they impacted. Those little pieces of incendiary mix just love to burn everything. Then you have the same idiots that use them, start a fire and then flee before anyone sees them. Why? Because they let the fire get so big before thinking about putting it out that now it's to late! Don't call the fire department, just split and hope you don't get caught. On the flip side, CA just doesn't like to let it's subjects have any fun. I'm still surprised that tannerite is legal, guess they haven't seen any you tube videos of it yet. I do like Adair Range in Yuma, great place to shoot and close to where I keep all my stuff. So the trade off is worth it as I can shoot there whenever I feel like it. |
|
[#33]
I hate to post this because they're already hard enough to find but blue tip incendiary are the best for light shows.
M1 blue tip has 34 grs of incendiary mix, best used on stuff that likes to burn. Planes were the intended target but when used against other targets it burned them up just as good! The problem is, they haven't been made in probably 40-50 years. The price per projo keeps going up. Most of the ones you find are just projos and you'll need to load them up yourself. People have posted air bursts of them about 10ft from the end of their barrels. This usually happens from them being resized and a small gap forming between the core and jacket. Something to think about if you plan on shooting any of these. |

[#35]
Got to shoot a shit ton of Mk211 when I worked at Barrett. It was fun to play with against hard targets.

[#36]
Tony,
What was the thickest piece of metal that you got a round to go through? Did you ever shoot anything else other than the plates? |
|
[#37]
Seems like I remember going through 2" at 500m. That was the thickest scrap we had.
We did shoot at a lot of large rocks at up to 1000m. That was a hoot. |

[#38]
Has anybody been notified of your order being shipped? I noticed it isn't listed on the website now.
|
|
[#39]
I noticed that last night as well. They probably have sold all of what they are expecting to receive.
Oh and no shipping info for me yet. |
|
[#40]
I don't see a charge on my account either. They didn't notify me or send a tracking number with my last order for some other stuff. I didn't know when it was here until I came home to an attempt notice on my door. I guess the same thing will happen again. I wonder if they removed it since the presales met the amount of rounds they expect to get.

I received this email a while ago
We have had a delay in getting the Raufoss MK211 rounds. We are waiting on the supplier to deliver. We will keep you updated with any new information. It could be another few weeks. We will hold your order at the front of the line. We will not bill you until we are ready to ship. I will contact you when the rounds come in to make sure you still want your order. If you want to hold on, no reply is needed. If you need to cancel, please let me know. Thank you for your patience in this matter. |
