Well, after many a round downrange, I think its time to put another barrel on the beast.   Anyone rebarreled their AR50?   Recommendation on who to do it?   Thinking of sending it to Pac-nor, but open to ideas.   Not after a match chamber, but something a bit tighter than what was on the origional barrel, which had a long throat.

thanks

Martin List in Oklahoma probably knows more about the AR50 than anyone and rebarrels dozens a year.
Armalite uses him as a resource.
PM if you want contact info.

LARGE PLUS ONE for Martin List.

You won't find any better gunsmith for the AR-50 rifles.

I did my own rebarrel, but before firing a shot thru it, I had Martin List check out my machining skills with his gages. Approved.

I did a 0.554"Dia neck dimension which requires neck-turning the brass for best fit.
0.554" neck diameter on reamer
-0.510 bullet diameter
=0.044 brass wall 2X
/2 for each wall
=0.022 wall thickness exact fit with NO SAFETY
-.002 for brass stretch & rebound releasing projectile

=0.020" neck wall thickness - Some brass will meet this spec, but MOST WON'T.

Oldman,

That is the same neck chambering that Dave over at Spider Arms did for me. I am a little more chicken and turned my necks to .019". I have a mixed bag of brass that I bought off a few guys in the EE section of this forum.
Seen walls on one that was .024 on one side and .020 on the other side. Made a believer out of me that if you want good ammo, ya got to turn the necks of your brass. Even if you dont have a match chamber.

How many rounds have led you to believe you need to rebarrel your rifle? Are you losing consistency if your shots?

Borescope.   Looking pretty ratty.  Shoots ball ammo fair.    Couple K rounds down the tube.

I'm trying to get a Steyr HS 460 rebarreled to 50BMG and am having no luck finding someone in Dallas.
I have googled Martin List but come up blank
Can someone please post, PM or email me his info ?
Thanks;
David
