Hi Guys, I picked up a new SCAR 16s yesterday in black.  I like it alot,  I took it out to my farm last night to do some shooting.  I like it.  I put on a mini acog from another one of my rifles.  Im thinking this needs a ELCAN or something.  DO most of you guys run red dots or magnified optics on the 16?  If I go Elcan, its going to be a while so I can save up.

Here are a couple of photos.

Sweet. I bet it's fast on target with that sight.

beautiful, doubt ill ever buy one, too much money for a .223 rifle. .308 is even worse. if these ever became affordable i would run a elcan

Did you find it privately or through a gunshop/online?

Curious when a new run of SCAR's is going to hit shelves again

It just got to my FFL.  Brand new,  I go in there about 2x a week, and this had just came in the day prior.  So, I snagged it.

I run a T1 on mine. I do have a TR24 that might make it on there some day.

Congrats!  I used to run an Elcan on mine but I never liked how far back I had to have it mounted to get proper eye relief and the weight made the gun feel awkward.  I would highly recommend just having a red dot of your choice (I run a Comp M4s in an Absolute cowitness mount) and rotate a magnified optic (I run an ACOG) on when needed or do the Eotech/Magnifier setup (I had this as well but I didn't like how high the EXPS sat on the scar.  lower 1/3 feels higher on the scar than on an AR and I prefer absolute for it).

Very nice!

You know that the black versions are not as accurate as the FDE, right?

Enjoy it!  It really is a great rifle.

Oh, and obligatory pic of my SCAR 16 (alongside my black ACR)...

Add a Geissele Super SCAR trigger and you'll love it, OP.

Ask yourself what will you be using this for.  If its for defense..Red Dot.  If its for target...magnification.

I had a bad experience running a drill using a magnifier on red dot.  When they started calling out different threats I tried swithching targets and couldnt find the target on the lens.  So I swung off the 3x magnifier and now I was able to engage different targets fast.

Acogs are great if your in Afghanistan engaging at 500 meters.

So the solution would be a red dot with magnifier to the side.
