First - yes, I'm aware of the "fitting" that has to be done to use aftermarket AR grips.

My question - Magpul now makes a type-2 MIAD grip that is supposedly made for 7.62x51 AR-10 receivers, the main difference appears to be taller backstraps.    Does anyone know - for the SCAR17, would the type 2 provide a better fit vs. the type 1?  Pics would be even better, but might be too much to hope for.  There's a lot of info out there about the grip swap, but I haven't found anything specific to the two different MIAD grips.

The rear portion of the lower receiver is the same on both the SCAR 16 and 17. I have an original MIAD on both of my SCARS. I would go with the Type 1 for your 17 since the taller backstraps on the Type 2 will probably be less likely to fit properly and require even more work to modify.

Thanks, that makes sense.
