I see ss198 is 1300 for 2k rounds. Is that a good deal? I've read that it's pretty good for manufacturer ammo. I see American Eagle 50 round boxes go for 23. But from my understanding ss198 is the closest to ss190 you can get without reloading.

Thanks for the edit.  I was afraid there was yet another AR caliber.

Haha, sorry. I just bought a ps90 and need ammo. I see the Hornady v tip ammo going from 26 to 30 dollars and then this deal comes up. Problem is I don't know how good this SS198 is compared to the v tip stuff. It is worth paying an extra 5ish dollars a box?

Ss198 is fast, and will slice through level 2 armor. Verybdifferent than the ss197 blue tips. That's a good price for ss198. Don't think it comes close to ss190 specs as ss198 is lightweight with a28 gr projectile and ss190 is heavy and has a steel insert.

You can snag it for cheaper on Gunbroker.... If you aren't competing against a bunch of other bidders. So it may differ. Lots of sellers on GB overprice the heck out of SS198 though. $1000 for 1000 rounds... That's just ridiculous.

I don't mind the price per 50 rounds. I'm just worried about the shelf life. I've read on other forums that it has a shelf of 5-10 years due to the primer.

I wouldn't mind buying 1k. But the price per 50 round box versus the 2k case is $4.50 per 50 Rd box.

That's a great deal for SS198. SS198 is actually faster than SS190, but it's also 3gr lighter. SS198 will chrono in the 2100 range, where as SS190 is right around 2000.
