IMHO that's a good price and yes that receiver is 6061 which is fine and nothing to worry about. Besides the receiver and front take down pin there is nothing 601 about that rifle and it has a fugly Type E stock on her. As the ad says your basically buying it for the receiver. If you buy her you do realize that you would be obligated by the Gods of retro land to get her back into original configuration?

Ditch the 30-round mag for a 20 and replace that pistol grip w/ an A1 and you'd have a nice shooter.

I'd pick it up being that I live in MN and we are a C&R only for MG's but I'm pretty sure the wife would kick my ass for spending that much on a select fire rifle...
It looks good in the pictures I'm thinking it was re-anodized also... IMHO it's a good price for what it is it may not be all correct but for C&R only folks it's the only way they'd be able to have a transferable M-16 style rifle... |

For $11K less I would go with the AR18 unless you are dead set on an M16 and would use all the flexibility it would allow. I.e. Multiple calibers, barrel lengths etc.
The 18 is a fine gun and easy enough to modify AR mags to fit it. The only other issue would be spare parts availability. |

Spare parts are going to be a PITA with the AR18. I would go for a Colt 601, preferably one in original configuration.

If you buy that 601 receiver, you ARE required to put it back to original with all the early 601 parts.
It won't be very cheap to buy the correct parts, but it would be worth a lot more in the end. Anything else would be a sin. |
