I was cleaning out my attic and found the original upper that came with my m16a1. I pulled the hand guards off and there is no barrel date. Does anybody know when they started dating their barrels?

It may have started with the M4A1 SOCOM barrels. You'd probably get a better response in the Colt Industry forum.

EDIT: Looks like they first started with M4A1 barrels in 1995.
