I picked this up a little while back for $22,450.  Painful to even say that, but I think it was only a little higher then the going rate then.  Possibly a good deal now??  It is an original carbine and is papered with the carbine length on the form 4.  It has minor wear hear and there, as it was definitely shot, but overall, it is in great shape, and I'm happy with it.  Nice to add to the collection, and it's neat to have a real M16 to go with the RDIASs.  Definite differences and pros and cons to each.  I'll be shooting it plenty as well.  Enjoy!

Yea I really like Colt M16's, that one is nice. I would leave it like it is and shoot the crap out of it in a loving and caring way.

Yeah, it's so ridiculous that you guys in Canada can't own a full autos anymore. I guess here in America, even though it is ridiculously expensive, at least we can own them. Isn't it crazy to think how much things have changed in the past 50 years. :-(

collegeboy, FWIW, in this week's Poulin/Julia auctions, a converted Colt SP1 RR was sold. When you add in the buyer's commission and the 5.5% sales tax that they charge all buyers, it went for more than you paid for your factory Colt M16A1.

Just sayin'.

Beautiful rifle. Interesting too....look at the roll marks on the magwell. They are biased more toward the front of the magwell, whereas most M16A1s seem to be more centered. Personally I love Colts like this that have some unique aspect about their markings, similar to the A1 lowers marked M16A2 and a whole host of other strange Colt marking nuances.

The price you paid is not bad by current standards and your rifle is in great shape. As has been said, "you never pay too much, only too early".

Yep.  That was actually one of the reasons I picked this one.  It's "different" :)
