My buddy recently received his 5" threaded barrel for his S&W 76 and offered me some trigger time ammo included, which of course I couldn't refuse. Although I love my M11/9 setup I have to admit this was the most pleasant suppressed 9mm subgun I've ever shot. The RPM felt like it was somewhere between 750 and 900. It was sooooo smooth; the bolt just glided back and forth and didn't feel choppy at all the way an M11/9 can. With the Octane 9 it was very quiet and I didn't get gassed either; I suspect that was in large part due to the ejection port being close to the forend. I gotta say that if I was in the market for another 9mm subgun and wasn't interested in a .22 kit or being able to put fancy red dots/stocks/VFG's on it the S&W 76 really makes an awesome suppressed SMG.

The one I shot was very nice.  It also had an integral suppressor and with 147's it was Hollywood quiet.  Yes I wanted one.  The price of late has risen sharply.  There is a guy selling legal copies for $5k ish.  I can't remember his name though.

I know a Class III Fun Store that has a S&W 76 in stock.  I sure would love to have the space Green to buy it.

They are really smooth and extremely reliable. There's a reason SF used them in the 'Nam. (OK so maybe that reason had more to do with Sweden, but whatev...) Nice gun!

I have a friend with a reworked MK760 and integral suppressor done up by Accurate Ordnance.  It's super smooth and very fun to shoot.  Very quiet too.

Jim Burgess manufactured copies made from Stemple tubes. He has a couple for sale on Subguns.
He also makes a suppressor with an intregal ported barrel for them. It's kind of a dated design, but it's suposed to be able to make factory 115 grain subsonic. I'm in the process of purchasing one.

Put a Want To Buy add over on Sturmgewehr. I bought a couple barrels from a guy there and I think he has two left.

What's the general consensus on the Burgess Model 76 clones?  They look a bit rough and/or cheaply made, but wonder what the reality is, and if they are a good alternative to an actual Model 76.
