If your looking for a 7 inch I would go with the PWS Diablo. They used to make them in 6.8 not sure if they still do.

IIRC the 6.8 is pretty impressive out of a short 10.5" barrel.

I'd go 6.8 in 7" or if you have the $$, .458 Socom. Marty T builds some sick VSBR's in .458

I opted for the 6.8 and I chose the Noveske 12.5" Crusader barrel.
I also considered getting the Diablo/LWRC and others in 6.8, but I just don't need a 7-10" barrel. |

From what I've seen, the 6.8 seems like a great round. I'm just worried about the cost of ammo for training. I'm leaning towards a 7" barrel because it is more easily deployable from a vehicle.

6.8 is the way to go. out performs 7.62x39 and 5.56 out of short barrels.
