My AAC Element2 has taken quite a beating ever since I first got it.  It was actually scratched at the LGS when I went to pick it up, which I was royally pissed about.  Now it doesn't matter too much since it gets scratched here and there?

I'd like to keep it black.  Is there something I can do to re-coat or refinish the surface to make it look new again?  I am not very inclined when it comes to refinishing but I can follow directions well

Sand blast it and paint with Cerakoe C-series high temperature coating.

Here is a project I recently did a few years ago. I don't have fancy equipment.
$20 compressor off craigslist
$10 sand blasting gun
$5 of playground sand from home depot
$30 spray paint kiit
$5 liquid masking
$35 cerakote Magpul OD Green C-Series paint.

Probably worth checking with @AAC before spending any time/money on it.

Just blast it, it looks better w/o paint

I would use gunkote or cerro-either one will be fine

Your finish is "defective' and we will re-finish it for you at no charge and it will be brand new. Turn around time right now is a couple of days at the most. Call us and we will take care of everything.

That is why you bought AAC.

my finish flaked off with carb cleaner-no kidding, what you you use.

Its defiantly different than the paint you use on the rifle cans.

The element was also not sand blasted, it was smooth  even nearly shiny when I removed the paint.

it had less than 300 rounds on it, I just blasted it with Al-oxide because it looks better on my SS ruger with the matter finish.

Sounds like your finish is defective.
