So, if my dealer is a SSD, but doesnt have a kiosk, I could mail SilencerShop a 2x2 photo, and 1 set of my finger prints (to go along with my trust that they already have) and SS will put me in their system? Then, when I want to use my dealer for SSD purchase, it works just like the old system?

Also you can register in the kiosk at anytime, you don't have to have an active order.

On that note- how long will customer data be retained, after a period of no purchases/transfers?

You think the FBI will accept 2-3 year old prints? I don't.

However, there is nothing in the law regarding age of prints.

How will the FBI know how old the prints are?

I'm a teacher and was fingerprinted in 2004. My school district has run a check on me every year with the same set of prints.
Same with my Texas License to Carry permit.

Every time when they print out the digitized prints, the person signing the card is certifying the date printed.

The FBI has its own set of rules.

The kiosk sounds great and I understand the business sense of moving to the distributorship model, but it would go a lonnnnng way with us local folks if y'all would do something nice for those of us who are close enough to stop by the storefront.  Even a token gesture would be great.

Are five kiosks within 17 miles of the Silencer Shop store not enough?

They're a distributor now, so is it really considered a storefront at this point?

We will have a kiosk here of course. You can purchase, view the silencers and pick up accessories at the store front.

Why not just corner the market and open up Silencer Shops all throughout the US?  Cincinnati, OH can be your next location.

I noticed several shops now have a fingerprint image "coming soon" so I assuming that's a good indicator who the Kiosk locations are going to be.

How do we know which specific gun shops/dealers received a kiosk?

I see there is one in my area, but I have no clue which store has it...

Go here:http://www.silencershop.com/dealer/locator/search/ then type in your zip code.
Powered By dealers with a kiosk will have a blue thumbprint with "soon" next to their listing.

List of cities

There are 18 in FL. Which I believe is only second to TX. According to the last report from ATF Florida was #3 in silencer ownership behind GA. GA is only getting 9. Same as OH, which is #4 or #5. I would say that Florida is one of the best taken care of states with the limited resources available.

Some states are only getting 1 or 2. They only had 300 kiosks to cover 43 states. I would say a 30-45 minute drive for a one time service visit is more than reasonable.

Time to petition your local dealer
Or just go there and get prints and photos and then use your local dealer

So correct me if I am wrong. If I wanted to do it the paper method.  (I have a trust.) I could have SS send me the new paper work with attached pre filled out finger print cards. Then I the buyer could take the finger print card to my local Sheriffs office and have them preform the finger print card and sign off on it? Then mail it back to SS with the completed new form and finger print card.

So are dealers dragging their feet?
Springs Armory estimated another month before things are up and running?
Are any kiosks functional at this point?

That's better than my local dealer, yesterday they told me it would be about 10 months before theirs was up and running.

Is it due to a SilencerShop issue? Or your dealer is having an issue?

Not sure, they are a newer powered by dealer, but on SS website is says soon next to their name.  Luckily there are 2 other dealers getting kiosks that are about a 45 minute drive from me.  Hopefully one of them gets it a lot sooner.

I guess a better way to get at what I was wanting to know would be: Does your dealer have a kiosk in their store now, and it is not working? Or will they GET a kiosk, in about 10 months?

I know SS has said they plan to have more made and installed across the country, so I didnt know if the first wave of kiosks were having issues being setup or not.

Oh, I'm not sure if they had one in store or not.  I doubt they did since they are new powered by dealer.  Once they told me 10 months I knew I would be using a kiosk at a different dealer and didn't ask any more questions.

I was at Capitol Armory few weeks ago, tried out their finger print scanner to have them on file. It is time consuming trying to get an acceptable print on those things.
