So, if my dealer is a SSD, but doesnt have a kiosk, I could mail SilencerShop a 2x2 photo, and 1 set of my finger prints (to go along with my trust that they already have) and SS will put me in their system? Then, when I want to use my dealer for SSD purchase, it works just like the old system?

Correct, you could also go to a kiosk location but still pick up at the other location. Also you can register in the kiosk at anytime, you don't have to have an active order.
|
|
|
And you could also use the yet-to-be-released app to handle the photo instead of mailing them one.

You think the FBI will accept 2-3 year old prints? I don't. However, there is nothing in the law regarding age of prints. Correct. Although, I've heard reports of older ones being kicked back. However, in this case, is SS not going to simply print off new ones each time, and sign & date them? They won't appear to be old prints. Same could be said for the photo, but the forms do specifically say within the last year, so it's the honor system. |

The kiosk sounds great and I understand the business sense of moving to the distributorship model, but it would go a lonnnnng way with us local folks if y'all would do something nice for those of us who are close enough to stop by the storefront. Even a token gesture would be great.

I noticed several shops now have a fingerprint image "coming soon" so I assuming that's a good indicator who the Kiosk locations are going to be.

Yep you got it. The icon turns on when they are close to being up and running.

Saw my first Kiosk yesterday. It wasn't up and running, but it's definitely not vapor ware either.

How do we know which specific gun shops/dealers received a kiosk?
I see there is one in my area, but I have no clue which store has it... |

Saw the kiosk yesterday at the LGS just waiting on the Geek Squad.

According to the last report from ATF Florida was #3 in silencer ownership behind GA. GA is only getting 9. Same as OH, which is #4 or #5. I would say that Florida is one of the best taken care of states with the limited resources available. Some states are only getting 1 or 2. They only had 300 kiosks to cover 43 states. I would say a 30-45 minute drive for a one time service visit is more than reasonable. |

I could have SS send me the new paper work with attached pre filled out finger print cards. Then I the buyer could take the finger print card to my local Sheriffs office and have them preform the finger print card and sign off on it? Then mail it back to SS with the completed new form and finger print card. |

I guess a better way to get at what I was wanting to know would be: Does your dealer have a kiosk in their store now, and it is not working? Or will they GET a kiosk, in about 10 months?
I know SS has said they plan to have more made and installed across the country, so I didnt know if the first wave of kiosks were having issues being setup or not. |

I was at Capitol Armory few weeks ago, tried out their finger print scanner to have them on file. It is time consuming trying to get an acceptable print on those things.
