I built this because at the time it was more cost effective than building an MP5SD... with magazines and such, $2200 dollars later (not counting the suppressor) I still want an MP5SD....
still cool though and very quiet... will remove if ya'll want as it isn't exactly HK... but I feel like its the younger cousin of the MP5SD... Attached File and an MP5 just so there is some HK in the post Attached File |

Shoot 124 or 147 through it and get back to us about sound. Not really apples-to-apples comparing your muzzle-can with subs, to an SD with 115s. Yeah I'll try it with other ammo for sure. I know it was designed for NATO spec 124 grain so I'll get some of that and I already have a ton of 147 grain so I'll try that, too. I want to get this mag problem sorted out first. I did notice that when it malfunctioned it was a lot louder, I guess due to the bolt not closing. That makes sound comparisons annoying when you never know when the gun will stop working. |

So...has anyone taken apart a TPM silencer now that the take-down holes are in the rear cap instead of the front cap? Either they use threadlocker, or I need to wrench this thing off using ALL the force I'm able to apply to it. I'm assuming I need to rotate the cap counter-clockwise?
ETA: So I put the spanner wrench against the floor and put my knee down on the wrench to keep it in place, then used both hands on the silencer and was *just* able to get it to unscrew. I'm going to put white lithium grease on the threads and maybe not tighten it down onto the gun quite so much. |

Ken told me that they do not use any thread locker but some people do to keep it from unscrewing while shooting. He said to use anti-seize on the muzzle barrel threads and to wipe some around the muzzle, too, but I don't think he mentioned anything about using any on the base cap threads, but I use it on a lot of my other take-apart cans so it shouldn't hurt anything. It's always a balancing act keeping it tight enough so it won't come apart while shooting or when you unscrew the body to remove the can, but not too tight that you can't get it apart for cleaning

I gave it a tug with the spanner wrench since that was long enough, and it didn't move. Pretty sure the wrench is steel and the barrel nut is aluminum, so I don't want to screw it up. The front endcap won't budge. Even with gloves. I think I'm going to have to pour a little Kroil into the silencer and let it do its thing. That barrel nut is completely carbon welded in place. |

Might have to use a heat gun to try and get it to loosen up. If you torque it down on the barrel, then shoot it, and tighten it more, when it cools everything will be tight as hell!

The new end caps were turned taking the anodizing thickness into consideration so hopefully they won't be as hard to get off after they have been shot and carbonized!

put 500 rounds through the mp5k suppressed today. Had 1 malfunction. Halfway through... cleared it and kept rolling. I love this gun. So much fun!

Success!
I went back to TPM on Monday and Ken removed a little bit of material from the receiver below the magazine catch, this let the mag catch sit a little lower and relieved the pressure from the magazines on the bolt. I shot a couple hundred rounds today through 5 or 6 different mags with zero malfunctions. The end cap stayed tight on the can, the threads are pretty rough but I put on some anti-seize and that added a little resistance. It was still easy to remove after getting home from the range. A few days ago I tried to remove the suppressor and the tube unscrewed from the base cap, it was stuck on the receiver threads. I put some loctite on it and the next day I was able to remove the whole thing. Today the tube came unscrewed a little at the range despite the Loctite and when I got home it the tube still just came off the base cap. I cleaned the internals and put loctite on the tube again so hopefully I will be able to remove the base cap from the gun tomorrow. I might try Rockset next time to stand the heat better. Today I mostly shot Stand 1 Armory 147 grain ammo and it was fantastically quiet, much quieter than any of the 115 grain rounds I tried previously. In my MKE MP5s I use the Stand 1 147 grain "chubbies" reduced power loads almost exclusively. The chubbies are slightly quieter than the normal 147 grain loads and have less blowback and might be a little cleaner. Today I only brought the regular full power 147 grain ammo that I normally use in my suppressed handguns, I might try chubbies in the SD another time. I also tried out my Ghost with 3-lug mount I just got on my full size MKE, it sounded great in both long and short configurations so I think I'll dedicate it to that MP5 in short configuration. It's way too loud on 45 pistols. |

Tested the Omega 9K next to the Octane .45 today on the K-PDW. From the shooter's perspective, they're indistinguishable. Bystanders said the Omega 9K is just slightly louder.
I'm really surprised, I didn't expect the Omega 9K to sound so good at its size. Awesome can. |
