Thanks very much for that! Is that tool included with the silencer? We don't include a tool with the Obsidian. The tool is for our assembly guys that are putting together several hundred of them at a time. How about making them available for purchase? possibly a front cap tool on one side/Endcap on the other. Potentially made of glass filled nylon or some synthetic. Also, in regards to fixed barrel spacers, will there be a Rugged version? |

I have a prototype version 3-lug, it's done they are just waiting on custom springs for it. They should be releasing it asap! Most of you know I provide photos Rugged and other companies out there so I'll share these here to give you a better look at the 3-lug. I will say this is the most solid 3 lug mount I've ever used. I don't know if this is a internal vs external thing but there is ZERO wobble. I've had issues with Gemtech and Silencerco (both external) 3-lug wobbling on my 9mm Glock mag SBR's barrel. The Obsidian mount is SOLID. If I had to guess, this has to do with the way the piston inside is machined. It seems the internal type 3-lugs have more surface area surrounding the 3-lug barrel once inside. I like the 9mm endcap. The Obsidian didn't exhibit any increased port pop and shooting the full length setup on a G17 wet with the 9mm endcap was a religious experience lol. I shoot cans every other day and I was taken aback. That being said.... don't forget to swap the endcap back when moving to a 45 host! DOH! View Quote Nice photos and awesome channel. I will definitely pick one up. |

Outstanding post, NFA Review. Awesome to hear. I might go 3-lug on the Scorpion if it's that solid. I just don't really trust direct thread.
|
|
Nice pics! I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the 3-lug adapter soon!
|
|
I like the labeling on the end caps...nice touch.
Wonder if the Rugged 3-Lug will work on the Omega 9K since the SilencerCo 3-Lug is GTG on the Obsidian....so physically...the Rugged mount should fit. |
|
|
I'm actually tempted now to go with the 3 lug option for my m11/9 Lage upper and AR9 instead of the direct thread.
Need to see a video review... |

I can't wait, hopefully I'll be approved around the first of October.

Can't wait to get the 3 lug for my scorpion. I picked up my obsidian last week and am loving it so far on the scorpion. I thought I was going to run it in the short length, but I'm really liking it in the long setup.

Great pics and review NFA Channel.
The first of my family's 2 Obsidians should approve in the next week or so and with 3 lug and 9mm end cap will be a nice addition to my SBR MPX! Then I just need Lancer to come thru with their vapor ware carbon hand guard for the cherry on top! |

Been playing with the Obsidian for a few weeks now, really like it compared to AAC's Ti-Rant 45M

Is there an update on when pistons and three lug adapters will be readily available?

I need to figure out where I can get a 3 port break for my 300 blackout barrel. I'm still waiting on my can but in the mean time I have a 308 birdcage on there with a single shim washer that's all wavy from screwing it on there and it looks ridiculous and it only hand tight.

Those pictures are just making me more anxious and re-thinking on getting another 1911 as as dedicated host for this...

Wild (and probably stupid) idea in my head....
Obsidian is rated for 300blk subs. Maximum pressure I can find for 300blk subs is 37,882 psi. http://www.accuratepowder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/300_ACC_Blackout_Data.pdf 450 Bushmaster is SAAMI Max of 40,000 psi and uses a 45 ACP bullet... Is it even worthwhile to contact Rugged to see if the Obsidian would handle the 450 bushmaster? |

Yes, as I'm sure everyone knows: The silencerco 18x1 direct thread for the scorpion does fit the Obsidian. Just tried it on my scorpion and it went on like it was made for it.

Not sure where the 3lugs are but the 9mm end caps have been out for a while now.

Would also be nice to see direct thread adapters. I am looking at that Ruger American Ranch in 300 BO.

and "We do not recommend GA products for use in the Obsidian as they have stated that the Revolution is built to different specs. We have not tested them in the Obsidian, so I cannot say whether they will work or not."
So these will work with full Rugged warranty: https://www.store.silencerco.com/collections/silencer-accessories/products/thread-mount?variant=221764050 and for a more flushed/shorter mount, the Harvester(non Big Bore) will also work: https://www.store.silencerco.com/collections/silencer-accessories/products/harvester-thread-mount?variant=908092593 |
