want to paint it to match my rifle, any negatives to using krylon - other than having to use krylon again at a later date?

Isn't Fusion intended for use on plastics?
I'd probably lean towards a high heat grill or automotive header/engine paint...or high temp Cerakote.

It will not stand up to the heat long term, I have a barrel that is krylon'ed and it is dark brown over the majority of its length now from the many heat cycles its been through. it used to be multicamish colored.
I'll post some pics later.

fusion works on metal too.

Ive used the "Bedliner in a can" and two yrs later it holds well. Just an option.

This is just from barrel heat, I can only imagine a can would be way worse.

No worries at all. We painted our SF cans in the Army with standard Krylon. You'll just need to repaint them at a later date if you're really wanting to. I like the used look.

It looks cool for a trip or two to the range, then you need to repaint it.

Agreed. AR's aren't safe queens, though some people treat them like they are.

What type of can? Rimfire and pistol cans paint pretty well with basic Krylon. Rifle cans get way too hot.
This is what tan Krylon looks like after a few full auto mag dumps. It will hold up better with semi auto use, but over time, it still discolors, cracks and peels.

I actually repainted that Halo a few days ago with Rustoleum header paint that's rated for 2,000 degrees. I haven't shot it yet, but the finish is pretty good for a spray-on. It's a matte black now and closer to the original finish. We'll see how well it holds up over time, but I think it will do better than Krylon.
I might try it. My can all scratched up. Can't hurt it.
The Adobe color looks close to coyote

For the price you're gonna pay for a special high temp stove paint of the right color, only one can, plus shipping you may as well just get a Brownells DIY Oven-Curing Kit in actual FDE. A lot of suppressors are Cerakoted from the factory anyways.

My can used to have the same pattern/colors as the rest of the rifle. This is from shooting a few drills in semi auto. It turns a weird brown/pink, but you could just respray it real quick if it bothered you. I just didn't want mine to be black.
