a while back at a yard sale I bought 8 Kershaws, all speedsafes, most from 2003 or so and made in USA,
a CRKT Edgie, and a Spyderco Meercat, all new in the box, and a set of Craftsman tools new in the box
for one hundred bucks.

Old neighbors of my mothers were moving to go be near their kids.  My mom was helping them organize stuff for a yard sale and sent me a picture of some WWII stuff the old mans father had brought back that they were getting rid of.  She sent me a text saying I should come by.  I'm glad I did, I ended up giving them more than they wanted at $1200.

I'll post up some pictures later when I get home.

Best three items of my score were

LC Smith 12 gauge with auto ejectors
Winchester 1895 in .35wcf, the takedown version.  Also 10 sealed boxes of ammo in this caliber.
Hitler youth knife in excellent condition that his dad took from someone who didn't need it any more

In 2002, at the height of the AWB, I picked up a near-new Norinco 56S for $500 at a garage sale in Colorado Springs.  Three weeks later, at another garage sale, I grabbed a Remington 700ADL in .308 for $250.  Guy threw in everything that came with it, AND the other 16 shells from the box of ammo he had purchased with the rifle.  There was still a light coat of whatever Remington uses for cosmoline under the stock.

Then there was the Mech 600jr AND Mech Sizemaster I got for $10 (total).

Not gun related, but at a yard sale, I found a like new pair of Ray-Ban aviator sun glasses that was in a pile of crappy made in China sun glasses. I paid $1.00 for it. It was authentic. At that time, the going rate on that model was over $100.

I have never had good luck finding guns or related items at yard sales.

Every garage sale we hit. If there's any gun related items. I always ask, You don't happen to have any reloading or ammo you didn't put out? Lady says i do but it's a little heavy for me to carry. 30 cal can filled with loose 22.
One guy holds sales, probably sold everything by now but.... Advertised as RELOADING, MILITARY ETC.  Thumbler for $50, 500 sierra 30 cal bullets  $5 per box of 100.  RCBS 3 Die sets, 2 for $5. $200 supplied me for a good length of time.

Another sale (planned) by the seller for an estate. XTP's in 38m 45 9mm. Sierra's and nosler's 223 & 308 $5 per box of 100. OLD tin can of 748 (8lb) $75. Yeah the list goes on. I went with $500, came back with $250 and haven't even dented the components.
That guy also had a bunch of old Smiths & Winchesters. Model 17 (22) $250. 77/22 mag, stainless boat paddle, $150.

I don't hit too many garage sales and have never scored any gun stuff from one.  The best score of all time was a garage sale where they had boxes of taps, reamers, drills, and lots of other very expensive tooling.  I came away with about 40 different taps, most of them new, a couple dozen chucking reamers, and a handful of Sawzall blades for about $15.

Huge box of silver age marvel comic books I bought from a garage sale in the mid 90's when I was 12. Some of them were downright rare. Amazing Spiderman #2, 20+ of the first 50 Uncanny X-men, etc. I sold the whole lot when I was 18 for over $5K. I paid $6. That $5K financed a badass 1996 Camaro SS, still have it.

Bought a jet boil for 50 cents. I felt terrible that I told the lady what it was and what it realistically was worth. She looks at me and says then you had better take it before her husband sees. Paid and left.

I bought a Weatheby MkV in 300WBY wearing a full field II with 10 boxes of factory ammo for 800. Not the greatest deal but I am set for life with 180g partitions. It's threaded could be fun with a can.

Bout 8 years ago, my girl friend at the time had a close friend of her's who needed some cash. She grew up with her grandparents and only one left in the family to clean up their house and sell it after they were gone. she had 2 revolvers in rough shape. I only had about $300 cash on me and she accepted gladly.

The first was a blued S&W Model 36, Police Chief special 4". Damn fine little shooter. Gave it to my dad for Father's day a few years ago.
Second was a stainless S&W Model 66 with a 6" barrel. Sold it for $600 a few years ago to fund the first AR. Really wish I had that one back.

Estate sale a few months ago. 1000 count bags of virgin Winchester .308 and .45 Auto brass. The 308 brass was $12.50 per bag. Bought all 8 bags. And it was brand new, never fired. 4 bags of .45 Auto brass for $20 per  1000. Bought all 4 bags.
Guy ahead of me got all 500 pieces of the Norma 7.5 Swiss brass for $25. I was sick over that one.

My best yard sale finds were a Hamilton Beech mixer and a Coleman two mantle propane lantern.

$2.00 each. At different sales.

I've never scored, or even seen, a gun at a yard sale around here.

I was thinking the same thing.

Pretty much ever 1srelluc thread:
"I picked up this original STG-44 today at a garage sale for $2. I wanted to give them $5 but they refused and instead gave me an original case of ammo for free."

Well, it's in the ballpark:

Several years back a friend of my mother in law got cancer and her significant other ejected.  She needed cash and was going to have a garage sale to sell his stuff.  Father in law got a pre-sale peek and she sold my father in law the entire contents of the recently ejected man's garage shop for (as I recall) $1000-1200.  This included many nice hand tools, power tools, drill press, saws, etc.  I think there was a lawnmower involved too.  I helped load it up.  Two full 10' trailers worth.  Given everything acquired, it was a steal.  We felt exactly zero regret since the guy left her because she was going to go through cancer treatment (no hair, etc).

I bought a Dillon 1050 at a garage sale for $350.

Unfortunately it was in many pieces that were scattered all over the garage.

I found what I could. Then I put all the parts in a  box and sent it back to Dillon with my cc number and a note to please put it back together again.

When I said I put all the parts in a box, I meant all the parts I could find, not all the parts to the press.  I'm sure there were some missing.

It turned out that they didn't charge me anything, not even for return shipping.  When I got it back, it looked like a new machine.

I was at some guys house buying a few reloading items from him, he picked up a barrel and said give me $40 for this barrel.  It was a browning Belgium sweet 16 barrel with vented rib.  I asked about the rest of the shotgun but he said he couldn't find it.  I said no thanks, Id pass on the barrel.  He said give me $20  So I gave him the cash and when I got home found out what they are worth.  I ended up selling it for about $450

I also bought an air pump to fill paintball tanks for $250 - sold it on ebay for $1400

I bought a hydraulic pump on ebay for $800 and sold it for $3500 (which was cheap - retail is like $6500)

At an estate sale auction... a 1917 barreled receiver in good shape for $1
About 5 years ago there was a kid selling 20 and 30 round colt mags. I bought all the 30's from him for 3 bucks a piece and 5 20's for 2 bucks each. I should have just bought all the 20's.
