and you have the itch to get another rifle but you are trying to ignore the black rifle disease...
Which semi auto rifle do you buy? I'm thinking Bushmaster ACR or FN Scar 16s. eta: Suppose you can't get both |

Tavor. Some people don't like bullpups, some are neutral, some love them. I wasn't a fan until I shot a buddy's Tavor, and I'm hooked. Picked one up this month. The feel and balance is great, very ergonomic imo.
Between the other two, scar > acr |

Get an AR-10, SCAR-17. |

The only treatment is to give in to it and buy black rifles. that being said, SCAR if you can afford it....add a Tavor later. then a couple more black rifles. you should be set. |
Maybe an AK? I have 2 specifically as loaners/backup to my ARs.

Wait for the IWI X95 that should be out soon or buy another lower and start a SBR project.
I got a Sig 556R.
I really like the FN-Fal and the M1A, but the ammo prices are out of my budget. |

I think I like my 03A3 better than either. But they're all fun. I think the Bush rifle or Scout is a really great set up.

Go big or go home. Go get a Barrett M107 and rock the range. Best bang for your disease!
Depends........if you only have one AR then I would opt for another AR.......two is one and one is none.
If you have that covered then I would probably go with the SCAR.........the tavor to me is kind of a waste now that IMI will be releasing the X95 soon |

I bought a Tavor, I think I made the right choice but everyones situation is different.

Daewoo K2.
It's everything great about an AR and an AK combined into one amazing package. |

But the barret would just rule. having owned a 50BMG recently, once you fire that monster, the big bang bug really hits. |

SCAR 17
I'd sell a few ARs for one, but they are worth nothing these days. |

It takes a specific type of back stop for it to be legal, I think, and I don't even know of one around here that allows it. Now if you live out west and just shoot out in the country and such...... I guess it's doable. I wonder how much one round of .50 cal goes for. |

Already did and bought a SCAR 17 & 16. The 17 is probably the best .308 auto you can buy. Weight, balance, everything else. Then I bought 3 more ARs... damn BRD.

the choice is obvious:
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=518022221 Then you can be like Pacino running down the street... |

Maybe another AR that you have always wanted and then some good optics. Its now a buyers market for AR stuff nows the time to build that up. Lets see what the gun world holds in the next 6 months. BUT if you have to I would say the Scar only because I had an ACR it was ok but search for my posts about it. Basically I gave up on it due to all the promises. Right now Ive got a CZ Scorpion and love it gave me the warm fuzzies. Keeping my eye out for and RDB to see if i get the warm fuzzies. |

A broader idea: If you want something not a part of the "black rifle" syndrome, get a hunting or precision/target bolt gun, or a sporting shotgun. I love to shoot clay targets and bird hunting with an over under or semiauto shotgun with nice wood. I also love shooting long range small targets, and deer hunting. This does not diminish my enjoyment of "black rifles" It adds variety.
Expand your firearms horizons instead of getting another tactical semi auto rifle. That's just a different variation of what you have. Different design, different shape, but still the same theme. Try a different shooting sport. |
Biggest question is do you want a different caliber. Either go .308 (AR10), or go diffent platform. I went with a Steyr AUG a3M1 as my European exotic, and absolutely love it. Coolest looking gun on the planet.

While I really like the bushmaster acr the scar 16s is a close second and I say go with the scar 16 it has more 3rd party supporter. As well as being part of the line that was adopted by the us government, and it has caliber conversion kits coming.
I would say skip getting another rifle that essentially does the same thing.
How about a compact precision bolt action. 20" Tikka T3 CTR, with a nice piece of glass, not cheap vortex stuff, but something along the lines of a Nightforce or U.S. Uptics. |
I've been looking at the SCAR 17.
If you're going away from the AR, you might as well get a rifle different enough to be noticeable. |
When that decision was being taken away from us here in CT, I bought an FAL. I was thinking about trying to scare up on AK-74, but I didn't want a 5.45 or 5.56mm AK. (If I move out of Connecticut, the first thing that I intend to buy after establishing residence is a 7.62mm AK variant- those have either been illegal or a gray area here since I was in middle school).
I've been researching the Tavor for my girl. She is tiny and finds my ar too long and front heavy, which leads to the compact bullpup designs. Somewhere along the line, i came across the Desert Tech MDR and it got me thinking about a possible second for myself.
Fun level is high with m1 carbine or m1a. M1 carbine is great for females, kids, or anyone who likes a fun shooting gun
Ultimately I won't believe you have all AR bases covered until you have 3 or 4. I planned on having one or two but you need a CQB, precision, general purpose carbine, KISS, retro, clone of your duty rifle, etc. |
