They would be better off to do something like this,

Guy on HKPro used a 93 receiver and trigger pack plus some original and repo MP 44 parts.

I think this would be the most cost effective solution in 5.56 to provide something that will work and mostly looks the part if it was executed a little cleaner.

I don't think it's horrible. And yeah I know you can get an ar15 or an ak47 for way cheaper but that's not the point. I'm not looking for some cool ninja rifle I think this is cool in its own way and I don't have to buy non existent ammo I have a boat load of 5.56 so I'll probably get one of they work.

Magazines are suppose to be available for pre-order this month.

I'm anxiously awaiting to see what HMG's version of a STANAG
StG-44  magazine looks like.

I think I saw this on MAC's YouTube channel, or Instagram. Kind of neat.

Never understood why anyone would want to spend all the money on an old, heavy, un ergonomic design...It was surpassed for a reason...

But hey... different strokes.

It's a lot of money, but it's a lot less expensive than the real thing............

I think the same thing about AK's but they seem to sell.

That looks a bit more appealing than it did initially.

I might buy one of those, especially if the GSG MP40 disappoints.

They're called gun enthusiasts.   You know, people who like shooting all types of guns,  different, unique, etc.  There are more members of the shooting community than just ARtards.

I hunt elk with a muzzle loader,  that must really fry your circuits.

Will it have the option of a side rail?  I would have to have a side rail for a repro German scope.

Really hoping $1800 is the MSRP and street prices around $1600.

Has anyone ever heard of HMG? What's the quality of their guns look like?

Other than a limited run of cetme l rifles this is their first firearm they usually make targets etc

Having said that I've been following this rifle closely for some time and their other products seem to be of decent quality and are well reviewed.

They also seem to have decent cs and answer their emails quickly. So to summarize they don't have a long track record but with all the interest and the help they are getting from others I'm hopeful.

I'd be interested in one at about $1,200.

No more.

I think it will be north of that.  I'm guessing that production costs for a completely "new" rifle required a significant investment.

(Caveat: I know nothing about manufacturing.)

I'll likely get one if they're $1700 or below.

Would be interested in .223 and/or 7.62x39; if in the $200 range, I'd probably get both.

As Aeneas said, that remains to be seen. However, in the videos with the InrangeTV/Forgotten Weapons guys, it is pretty clear that Mac from HMG knows what he's doing.

Yessir, a 9mm pistol replica of the MP40. ATI is still waiting on ATF approval: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_6_41/439234_Anyone_at_Shot_Show_get_to_see_the_new_GSG_.html&page=1

I've always wanted one.  I would get one.

If the reviews come out saying they function well, I am totally going to get one. I have always thought the STG-44 was a really cool gun. I imagine even people with original guns would be interested in one of these so they could really shoot it a lot and not be worrying about their 20k investment gun breaking a part or shooting the barrel out.

I think I would get one in .300 blk and use it with a suppressor.

Is it 100% confirmed they will be poly? I thought the ones at shot were a 3D printed mock up and that's why they were poly? I thought I read somewhere the production ones would be metal.  Hmm

Yeah, I was under that impression too that the magazines would be metal.

But, it's clearly stated so at the link on the magazine page, polymer...

Does anyone know if the prototypes displayed at SHOT are gonna be the actual production. I have to applaud HMG for the work, but not to be picky but the stampings in the trigger area of the lower receiver are way off.. I understand that the position of the safety release would be different due to the HK trigger pack.  I mean at least the GSG 22 variant got this right.  Since the HMG STG is stamped couldnt these been put in  during the stamping process?
