I am going to swap out a Hogue free float handguard for another free float handguard (which has yet to be determined).  I have assembled a few lowers but have yet to assemble an upper.  Will the barrel have to be headspaced again when changing the barrel nut for the new free float handguard?

No.  If you are using the same barrel and barrel extension matched to the same BCG in the same upper receiver, you can change rails, even use totally different proprietary barrel nut, and headspace will not change.  Just torque the nut to spec.
