Those have always interested me. Aren't they similar to the old Remington semi's? I would love one for deer hunting but which caliber for deer that is somewhat easy to find? I didn't include my hunting guns but my Lamber 12 DB, Marlin 39D's, Ithaca 37's and 280 (made by skb) would make the list.

Charter Arms Explorer II pistol. Instead of having the mag feed through the grip, the grip is used to store a spare mag!

lasnyder I like your taste, and have had a couple browning take downs. Great guns, but I traded the last one 10 years ago for something and need to replace it. The S&W 41 is also a classic but I've never had the pleasure of owning one "yet".
|
|
zx12rider... thanks.. I shot the Chevy Truck Sportsman's Team Challenge for 5 years, and the M41 worked great to open the 4" verticals... as a kid, I could not afford the Browning take down (a friend had one), and always lusted after one... found one for $300 early last year... still looking for a brass framed Bearcat at the right price
|
|
I've got a S&W N frame fixed sight .357 magnum. Looks funny with those tiny "service" grips and no rear sight sticking up.
I've got a Browning BDM. Sort of looks like a slicked up HiPower. But it's not. It can be SA/DA or DA only with a twist of the screw on the slide. |
|
|
I have an Automag 3 that gets the " what the hell is that?! " reaction every time I shoot it at an indoor range.
|

|
lasnyder I know the feeling. I had an old copy of the boy scout manual from when my dad was a kid in the 50's. It had the Browning take down and 52 ads in the back and I drooled over them for years. I think I'll grab one this year. I've always wanted the 41 also but my Browning Buckmark has filled that void...

Semi auto sten pistol. With the grip and barrel off of it, sometimes people at the range dont even recognize it as a firearm http://i60.tinypic.com/wmed6c.jpg View Quote That my friend is simply frickin awesome! now why didn't I ever think to do that?!?! *rushes off to buy sten kit* |

Many of the old bolt action shotguns are a lot of fun to play with.
Makarov PM and CZ-82 pistols, not terribly odd, but the caliber is not real mainstream. Remington XP-100's with center grip stocks. |

Valintino my father's deer rifle has always been the Model 88, and I bought him a model 100 to match, that I use when I go home during deer season. Took my biggest deer ever with it..

View Quote The 88 is great, but I hate how the lever can "bite" you when you try to work it. I work the actions by having the palm on the outside of the loop, wrap my fingers through it, grip it, and yank it open and closed. I can't do it the other way or the action won't have enough force to cycle a new round. I gotta smoothen the action by sending it off to a gunsmith. Might need to get another barrel and action depending on how bad the rust got to it. (My grandfather kept it in storage for years without cleaning it and I just got it recently) |

Now I want to add another Browning takedown, Winchester 88, and SVT-40 to my collection.. This site is dangerous...

Some day I'll talk my old friend into selling me his 41' Johnson rifle; when I do I'll post picts.

Not my pictures, but I own them. Savage Model 99 http://picturearchive.gunauction.com/2484914/11340038/savage99scope01.jpg_thumbnail0.jpg Winchester Model 88 http://www.nadeausauction.com/auctiondata/1066/images/260_1.JPG View Quote The model 88 reminds me of my father's model 100 semi-auto. It's also an oddity. He believes it shipped with the wrong sights, since it he couldn't adjust the elevation to get it to print on paper. He ended up installing a Weaver 4x with tiip-off mounts. |

I've owned some of the stuff in this thread....
Daewoo dr200 & K2 Valmet m82 bullpup Browning bdm Robinson M96 Currently own B&T tp9 sbr, Robinson xcr's and Bushy acr It's always fun to have something a bit different at the range |

How do you like the trigger on the tp9?
Have you ever compared your SBR to an MP5K type SBR? If so, what did you think? |
|
My different at the range would be a MSAR STG-556 with Leapold CQ/T, Vepr-12 with CNC Warrior folder, and PSL in a Dragnov stock, vortex scope. They get a look.

I have a Ruger 77R in 250-3000 that I bought from a old guy at a show years ago and I really like it, tack driver from my first trip to the range, light recoil, not bad to carry, brass is a bit of a bitch though.

My only oddball would be a Marlin model 62 30 carbine levermatic.

Quoted: With respect, most of the hunting rifles depicted in this thread are not "odd ball" to us hunters. Old, yes. "odd ball" perhaps not. We see most of them all the time in the field, and the ones that have been cared for are still providing good service. I really love the Savage 99 and the Win 88. I bought a Win 100 as a gift for a graduating relative and he still uses it for deer hunting. Triggers in the Win 88 and 100 had something lacking, but could be fixed. Here is my "oddest" firearm. It has a bit of history. It is perhaps the history that makes it odd. This is a WWII era Dusek Duo pocket pistol. That company today is CZ. This is a knock off of the much better finished FN version on the Browning "Baby Colt" patent. The one in the photo was made close to the end of the war after the Germans had taken over the Czech manufacturer and turned it into making military weapons. The poor quality of the metal is typical of how the Germans had to cut corners toward the end of the war. What makes this one truly "odd" is that my dad retreived it in Okinawa off of the body of a Japanese officer! Proof positive of cooperation between the Axis to at lease some degree. It is chambered for the pip squeak .25 Auto and would have been used as a last ditch weapon. Obviously, the Japanese officer never got to it. http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/r772/gbloss/7AE190AA-8BD9-4F7F-A5FF-641A1AF6FE0C_zpscpfcrgn0.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/r772/gbloss/D2254684-5566-4009-99EB-D2DFB6B1DA1B_zps1vddsxtf.jpg View Quote Are you sure that's not some kind of early prototype PWS |
