Ok, here is an easy one. What type of grease do you use on the barrel nut when installing an ar15 barrel? What is your preferred grease?

ETA: The post above mine cracks me up.

When firing from the horizontal, how many RPMs counterclockwise do I have to be spinning to defeat the recoil stroke on an AR?

Expertise is best dispensed with a dropper in the tech forums.

My bad, thought this was GD, not GF.

I use Mil-Tec grease. Don't use too much grease on barrel nuts. It can eventually burn off and leave a "void". A loose barrel nut is one of the things to check for on an inaccurate AR. BTW, I've seen ALOT of loose barrel nuts on Colt 9mm's.

What is your preferred AR15 barrel wrench and stock wrench?

How do you mount the lower receiver in a vise when removing or installing a stock?

What is your opinion of the Geissele Reaction Rod?

The Colt M4A1's were excellent. BCM and Daniel Defense (10.5") held up well. Bushmasters required extractor springs and re-staking of castle nuts out-of-the-box, otherwise excellent. ALL required some armorer work after about 12,000 rounds. Occasionally, something just failed for no reason (broken bolt on Colt SBR semi-auto). Students caused much more damage than firing the weapons.

When fitting a barrel for a Remy 700, what is the preferred bolt nose clearance for a rifle used for general varmint work?  How deep would you cut the chamber for someone that does not reload?

Have no idea. Never re-barreled any of the sniper rifles.

I have a Norinco M14/S with factory parts.  Swallows a field gauge so I want to re-index with a TRW bolt.

Q:  Lap the bolt or lap the receiver?

If you have to lap at all, clean/degrease everything, small amount of compound on the lugs, work by hand, clean/degrease,lube.

Use decent parts, don't force anything, go slow, have it checked over when you're done by an armorer/experienced tinkerer.

What is your preferred AR15 barrel wrench and stock wrench? Stock nuts, DPMS wrench. Custom rails/proprietery nuts, have several to choose from For receiver tube caste nuts, I've got a wrench that one of the auto shop guys welded a nice handle onto. Was installing about 240 single point sling adapters on new Colts. They are TIGHTLY staked. Homemade tool worked great.

How do you mount the lower receiver in a vise when removing or installing a stock? DPMS white plastic receiver block.

What is your opinion of the Geissele Reaction Rod? Haven't used one, looks good.

First I'd tape over the area I plan to work to prevent scratches, then I'd drill a hole slightly smaller diameter than the sling mount screw so there's less material to compress, stretch, or crack when the screw is tightened.  The layer of tape should also help in preventing the finish from chipping.
