I have a few ar's, aks,  bolt actions, pump shot guns,  various pistols, but I want to get something unique.  Bullpup rifle, scar, something along those lines.  Preferably in 5.56 or 308.

Which would you buy and why???

.308 SCAR.

It's not really the gun I'd pick if I had a $2K budget but the other options you had in the poll are worse than the SCAR 17

Tavor because it would really piss of liberals for supporting Israel

Tavor however if you ever find a Scar 17 for less and $2k buy it.

Only problem with NODS are once you add in all the peripherals like helmet/mounts/torch (IR flood)/IR laser/NV compatible optic....that $2k quickly jumps up to $4-5000...

I'd tap a SCAR, 5.56 or .308. Tavor is up there too.

AUG or an M1A.

For me it would be the .308 Scar, followed by the Tavor.

I've owned everything on your list at one point but only own a SCAR 17 and an AUG now for what it is worth.  Either of those would get my vote.  SCAR sees more range trips for me.

Bullpup?  FAMAS.  Just for the sake of weirdness.  Probably not for 2k tho.

Shopping around and going "low end" on a couple of things I am about $2500 into what amounts to a complete night vision set up.  If you keep the money ready to go, do your homework you watch for deals it's not (necessarily) as bad as that.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, bu nothing on the list does anything that the OP doesn't have covered.  NODs make a huge difference, and shooting at night is fun.

Maybe 10% of the population have quality "combat guns." Maybe 1% have the mindset and skills to use them.  I'd bet 0.1% have the ability to fight day or night.  He asked for something unique...

Don't get me wrong, I'm saving for one more gun then it's back in the lights out motherfucker game for me.  And I totally agree with you.  But when you're buying low end...or more so "used" you just really really have to be careful where the parts come from.

I'm in a similar situation right now. I have about 2 grand to splurge on a gun. My vote goes for scar 17. Unfortunately, after you factor in mags and ammo, it's a grand over my budget. The scar 16 and tavor don't really do it for me. A m1a socom in a wood stock is sexy too

Scar-17 if you are in the market for a .308.  Otherwise, Steyr AUG.

a tavor in .308 would get my vote if it existed, so i voted "other".

Have you considered a suppressor?  You could easily get a 30 cal suppressor and a 300 BLK upper for 2K.  The wait times for the stamp have come down, I waited about 8 months.

Robinson XCR-L or XCR-M. Not a lot of people have them and they are fantastic weapons.

They WILL be collectible someday.

what about a vepr in 308. It is something semi-odd and can be had for well under a thousand. There is still websites with them in stock. Use the rest on a optic ammo and mount. Or just buy and save the other 1600 for a pvs 14

It doesn't have to be that expensive. If you guys are checkbook hobby shooters that write blank checks and allow the people on ARFCOM to tell you what you 'need' and then take that list to a Favored Vendor, sure, they'll hook you right up. You don't have to have the fanciest shit available to have a combat effectice NV setup.

I think it depends on what kind of unique you want to be... I like the ACR, but if you want to really be unique, a sako rifle (old model) will cost you probably $1200 but some good glass and you will have one of the finest rifles ever produced, if you can get your hands on one to shoot, do it and I think you will probably end up buying one.
