They put some kind of magical threadlocker on the the sear engagement screw, and some of that must get on the trigger and bind it up so it won't reset.

If were guessing.

The hype was over the standard, non user adjustable trigger that had been used for ages, and in millions of guns, not this one.

X-Mark Pro is recalled. X-Mark Pro.

This is why you replace stock 700 triggers.

My friend was at a Sportsman's Warehouse two weeks back and he was looking at a 700.  He closed the bolt and the firing pin dropped on the bolt closing.  He tried it again and the same.
He pointed it out ot the clerk who at first argued with him but was finally convinced that it wasn't right.  They started grabbing guns off the shelf and found several more that did the same thing.  On some, the bolt had to be closed rather quickly but the firing pin still dropped on the bolt closing.  He heard later that Sportsman store pulled several guns from their shelves.

I have two that are in the recall that "seem" to be fine but I wil still contact Remington to get them "fixed" for safety sakes.

My 700 is one of the affected ones. I've put 250-300 rounds through it with no problems. Do you think I'll need to remove the muzzle brake when sending it in? I'm fine with removing the bipod, scope and rings. I don't want to deal with the installing the brake again though.

No way I'd send it back to them.
