Looking for advice, tips, tricks, etc.

Picked up a 1989 W German Sig P226 that's been shot to shit.
I'm a sig guy so I got it primarily for it's historical significance/cool factor.
The slide is loose as shit!
I plan on building up layers of finish to try to improve it.

Any other tips?

In the olden days... one would peen the slide rails of a 1911 to tighten up the "slide to frame" slop.

Unfortunately...SIG Sauer uses alloy frames and this would not be as durable as the 1911 steel frames.

See how it shoots first, before you worry about its looseness. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Cerakoting would likely tighten it up but eventually it'll loosen up again as parts wear.  I recently sprayed aluma-hyde II on an upper + lower that had a decent fit, it had a very tight fit after application and has been very slow to loosen back up yet with decent use since.

Have it tightened up by a professional. Cerakote is really pretty thin stuff, and it would take a hell of a lot of it to take up any meaningful space. And Cerakote wears much faster than steel or aluminium will, so any results you get will soon wear off anyway.
