The KMR is the magnesium rail, right?

soaking in aircraft grade simple green
acetone and a rag
goof off graffiti remover
non chlorinated brake cleaner
lucas gun oil and a couple others will soften/dissolve paints

IMO hose the sucker with brake cleaner then finish up with a brass brush dunked in acetone.

I've heard that if you use anything like acetone or other chemicals the original finish will come off the KMR.

Apply a heavy dose of Mlok, it will work better than simple green.

I don't know about the rail being Mg, but on my LaRue rail, I used the gel aircraft paint stripper from Auto Zone.

It is very foul smelling, but I painted it on with a brush, and it stripped the paint completely off, leaving the existing coating intact.

You should probably email BCM regarding this matter.

The rail is not anodized because it is a Magnesium alloy and I've seen many strippers take off the finish.

I did it with the first gen KMR using acetone and there were no problems.

You're welcome.  I also used spray paint remover from lowes (maybe goof off) with no ill effects.

The rail was just a touch hazy afterwards.
