Picked up a used ruger bolt 22.
I spray painted it and it came out pretty good.

Should I coat it with one of the polyurethane matte finishes to help with scratching/scraps?

Only down side I see is it will have to be completely stripped for any touch up.

Clear won't hurt it any, and if you do a good job, it will be protective. Just don't rush the curing process and make sure to match the type of clear to the type of paint you already sprayed.

Although scratches do kind of give a bit of character to weapons...
