Hey Guys

Will black high temp bbq grille paint or engine paint hold up on a muzzle brake? If so, what would be the best prep for the brake besides just wiping it off with degreaser and spraying it?

Hi temp paint should.

I've had good luck with regular old Krylon, Skilcraft, etc.

On my first (and so far only) build I bubba'ed up the muzzle device a bit; scraped off some coating during install.

I found this to be a near perfect match for the factory phosphate finish:

In theory you are supposed to bake the part. I actually just held the barrel and muzzle device over a stove burner for a moment and the stuff is really staying on there.

Note, you DO have to do this or CLP takes it right off.

Regular spray paint will blast off after a couple of rounds, at least it did with my 300wm.

Over 2k rounds after spraying the brake and no issues. Used some generic camo spray paint from farm store.
