I had a rifle painted in sponge camo and when I stripped it back down the anodizing and polymer parts were stained. No amount of cleaning would remove the staining from the anodizing but I did finally get it off the polymer parts.

Would spraying a light base coat of black paint prevent lighter colors from noticeably staining the anodizing and polymer parts? Has anyone tried this and if so what were the results?

The paint shouldn't stain anodized aluminum.

I don't have pics and the lower in question has been painted black for now.

I scrubbed my ass off trying to get the anodizing back to black but never could. I was using aircraft paint stripper and acetone.
