That is the question, and quite the dilemma.
Just finished this LMT SBR build up, and I can't decide whether or not I want to paint it. I'll probably ask GD later, but I'm keeping it in the Tech forums for now. 
On one hand, it looks nice and pretty as-is, but on the other hand the rail doesn't match and I normally like the look of painted guns. What do you think? And yes, I realize the results will be biased posting this here.

I sprayed two of mine (one twice) including optics.
I made my own stencils, spent a lot of time masking off all the necessary parts, etc and was very happy with how they looked. I was not happy with the durability of the paint. I ended up spending a lot of time and acetone stripping off the paint I spent so much time putting on. (It doesn't all come off.) Admittedly, I made a bunch of amateur mistakes; didn't prep surfaces properly, sprayed coats too thick, didn't allow enough drying time between coats, used cheap paints, etc. I would like to try it again, but from what I've gleaned if you want to do it correctly, aluminum oxide blasting prior to painting is key. Maybe there's another way - I just haven't found it yet. That's just my $.02. |

I'd paint it or cerakote it. Just my ocd but I can't stand a rifle that has colors that don't match.

I say cerakote the receivers and the rail patriot brown. That would look awesome with the FDE furniture.
