Has anyone ever used high-temp spray paint on a rifle, especially the barrel?
I’m looking at Krylon Beige High Heat spray paint and wonder if it would be a
good base coat for a camo sponge job.  As far as I can judge by the picture
of the can, the color could be kind of close to FDE.

Would high heat paint even make any difference?  Is anyone cooking normal
spray paint off their barrels?

I’m also wondering if it would work well on a suppressor.  I know it's pretty
easy to cook the paint off a suppressor...

I have never used it on a gun, but i did use the black on our wood burning stove. It worked great and we hit temps of around 450 F, so I think it would be fine. Krylon is the same brand that I used as well, highly recommend it.

That is the exact same stuff I used on my service rifle for competitions.  It works just fine.

edited: because I type for shit.

Awesome.  Now I just wonder about the shade.  If it's light, maybe the heat
will end up darkening it a bit.

I'll order some and see how it looks on some plastic or cardboard before
putting it on a rifle.

I used black on a barrel, dunno about the rest of the gun.

To be honest, I didn't pay much mind to how the color changed, or even if it changed.

If you cook paint off a barrel, you've ruined it

I use the black stuff on gas tubes.  I blast them first, then put on a couple coats of black.  It gives a nice, matte, finish.
