Digital, micro patterns, and sponge patterns look neat up close, but don't really work as camouflage in the field.  These types of patterns just blend into their dominate color from a distance.  If actual effective camouglage is a concern don't waste your time with digi or sponge.  You'd be just as well off with plain OD or CB.

My "emergency" rifles are painted like Wulf's and RJeff's. Great job guys!

These are very much how i would like mine to look, have a new PSA budget build on the way that i was going to make my first attempt at some rattle can art work.

-Fancy Rustoleum Paint Job (Camo Khaki/Camo Earth Brown with a faint hint of Camo Deep Forest Green, all colors left over from a rattle can multi-cam job on another build from years ago).

It was all black until yesterday when I figured I'd give it the rattle can treatment.  (The previous owner of the Rail had it painted and I was unable to remove all the paint, several of the parts such as the bipod, rear sight, SPR butt plate, etc were well worn and used as well.)

Attempted my first rattle can paint job on a budget AR I just put together as a Guinea Pig. What do y'all think? Yay or nay? I'll get some pics of the whole rifle soon. Paint used was Aervoe Field Drab as a base. Then I used the laundry mesh bag method with some Aervoe OD Green, Aervoe Earth Brown and I also used a little Rustoleum Khaki to break up how dark it was looking.

Rustoleum is what i use. The one green is krylon but they both work the same. Just get it all at wal mart its the cheapest and its all the ultra flat stuff.

Coat in khaki

Do lines and such with flat brown primer in white can

Next to the brown lines and such do earth brown streaks that touch.

Use mesh to expand the earth brown areas so they go from solid to mesh.

Use black if more depth as needed.

After this the tan will be WAY too bright. Use olive/dark green color and mist entire rifle to dull the tan to desired tone.

Hand the fuck out of it and use the bitch! Nobody likes pretty paint! :D

I did a base of light greens and tan/brown and use a stencil that I made to add the shapes. This paint job was easy and didn't take very long at all.

This is a really good video of how to multicam with duracoat. It's a lot of work but looks awesome when done right. I've watched the montactical multicam video too but I like this one better and will follow this if I ever get around to doing it
