After it was all done, I went back and added a little more green, the whole time using bristles of a broom fanned out in my hand at different angles. |

Well I ended up doing both of my AR's I think my 5.56 came out better, even though it was the first one I tried it on. My 6.8 did come out darker like I wanted it to though.

Guys painting rifles with scopes; are you guys degreasing the scopes by just spraying them down with degreaser. Does the degreaser not get into the adjustment knobs and damage the internals of the scope. Or is there a certain way to degrease scope other than just spraying them. Thanks

Thanks I don't degrease anything when I paint it unless it's really dirty, then it just gets wiped down with a cloth and some rubbing alcohol, which dries very quickly. |

Honestly, just go lightly and use several very light coats on the base color and you'll be fine. |

I'm thinking about painting mine, not willing to paint the whole rifle yet. |

I'm thinking about painting mine, not willing to paint the whole rifle yet. I prepped it like the rest of the rifle, wiped it down with 91% rubbing alcohol with a lint free rag. When I painted it I took the handguards off and painted them separate, mainly to hit the barrel and gas tube while they were off. The stock I did nothing different, wiped it down with alcohol and lint free rag and then painted it. The handguard was FDE orginally, and the stock was black. After a solid base coat of khaki, I couldn't tell the difference or see any other color coming through. |

I only did the furniture, but I think it turned out okay. No pine needles, so I used the straw from an old corn broom.http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d10/jrggrj/20130520_105832-1.jpghttp://http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d10/jrggrj/20130520_105806.jpg" />

Now I'm tempted to find leaves and other vegetation to do a shotgun. A buddy of mine saw my pinestraw attempt and the bug hit him and he painted a few of his. Funny you took a picture with your cat. We have a feral cat I feed outside with about the same coloring. He sneaks up on me all the time when I'm outside and I was thinking about doing a rifle with his colors and patterns since it seems to work so well for him!
