Got some better pics with the actual hood in the image this time for those who want to see glare. It wasn't that dark out unfortunately. There is no hood glare whatsoever because the lights are pointed at a slight upward angle in order to avoid it. There is still enough spill to light the road although for OCDs sake I may lower the right light just a tad as the beam is in the trees.

Hi beams

Realistically, how many lights do you need to safely drive at night in the desert with these? Asking because I already have an LED light bar above the windshield in my Jeep, so the idea of an IR lightbar is out.

The only other options I see are:

- Put 2 IR driving pairs on my front bumper, where my 2 LED fog lights are now

- Figure out some sort of bracket to put one IR driving light on each side of the LED bar

- Mount them like OP's lights with a windshield mount and have lights on my lights with more lights

If you have a Gen3 PVS14 and get the Rigid IR lights in the driving pattern ( I can't speak to another combination) you will have no problems hauling ass in the desert. I drive on forest roads at 45+ blacked out and can see much further than I could with headlights.

Of those three photos, I definitely prefer the No IR one.

In an open desert it'd probably be a different story.  Thanks for the pics.

Those are them.

They are mounted on the A Pillar on each side at the base of the windshield.

Got sick of struggling to see if that impression up ahead was a huge rock, a deep hole, or just an ant pile.

(pics of NV on page 2)

I think it works They are Rigid Industries D2 Infrared (940nm, which I was hesitant about at first given that I have a Gen 3 PVS14) but they work incredibly well. The only problem is that you have to be very careful not to leave them on accidentally.

I'm on my phone and can't figure out how to make those direct links for IMG tags but it really shows the increase in detail you get from using IR when driving.
