I was hoping to mount my illuminator on the top of my rail system so the bezel was over hanging the gasblock area, as to keep the kit as inline as possible.  As the my view of view is not obstructed, there is some slight ghosting caused by the illuminator.  How much does the offset of the illuminating device matter, if the is not capable of beam focus?

TIA

It only matters as much as it affects illumination of your target area. If you have some spare cantilever arms and spacers then you can experiment to see how moving the light further forward and/or further outboard will affect barrel shadow.
