Neat video. Love the vehicle and driving blacked out doing stealth probes. I'm setting my rig up currently with surplus IR driving lights and modding the brake lights and dash lights with a cutoff switch todo the same thing.

This is really cool, but being in Utah myself, I understood that it was illegal to take coyotes at night (fur bearers only 30 before/after daytime) regardless of any use of artificial light (which is regulated by county). I didn't hear that addressed in the video. Did they have some special permission/ authorization? Or do I just misunderstand Utah's laws?

good stuff
10 years ago I was 10% night hunting (with moon), 90% daytime sets. Today that is just the opposite, I prefer it dark and pitch black for that matter. |

Great question Daggertt! This footage was shot in multiple states but in answer to your question, some counties allow night hunting in the state of Utah for coyotes as they are not classified as a fur bearer but a varmint. Also, a landowner or his agent may protect livestock at anytime, day or night on private property in Utah. Hope this helps.

Great video guys! Good points on budgeting for both rifle mounted and handheld NV/Thermal units, many people don't seem to think they need more than a gun mounted thermal. I use my handheld ten times the amount I use the gun mounted one.

Great video, Guys!
There are not many professional predators hunters out there with the expert knowledge that Tom Austin has. |

Great video! +1 on the Rigid IR line of lightbars. They are simply incredible. I need a thermal weapon sight now...

They're definitely worth the money but if you're running a DVR, external power, etc. on your scope plus doing it in the dark, then disconnecting and reconnecting is a pain. I do use mine to switch thermals between rifles and switch back to day optics while keeping zero on everything. I find them super useful for that scenario. |

View Quote What REALLY surprised me on the Rigid IR lights is they broadcast at 940nm (with virtually no visible signature) and put out IR light to 175+ true effective range. Just a really impressive piece of kit. Vic |

This is just two of the Rigid Pods. I've gotten to 85 mph on a dirt road. Plenty of light I just wish I mounted them higher on the truck. http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k281/MrPlayer/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpssr1cf1jh.jpeg http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k281/MrPlayer/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsjn0iswnk.jpeg http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k281/MrPlayer/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsgal4oxwi.jpeg View Quote Great pics! Thanks for posting this. I had this exact conversation with Tom on mounting his units a bit higher when I first inspected his lights...While he was getting a true effective range of 175 yards+, mounted a bit higher they would have been 200 + easy. |

After construction, I Finally had a chance to put some of the new equipment through a test run on an actual predator hunt with TNVC-Vic. First step was to load up the All-Weather Truck Vault with gear. Proned out, sitting, kneeling as funny as it sounds I can be steadier at times. Seems like I'm always adjusting the height on the sticks, based on my sitting position, target range, etc. You others get locked in pretty quick that's for sure. |

Another great point besides how quiet they were was how absolutely comfortable they were. No ass or back hurt whatsoever! I was on and off these chairs for hours each night, and they were just awesome.
