I have some 9V Phoenix Jr's, several MS2000's and a Hel Star 6 on the way.

What is the brightest commercially available IR strobe? As in something you'd use to denote an LZ or vehicle mounted. Yes I've seen the full runway IR kits, which are super cool. What else?

94 thread views and no one has any thoughts? Or are the folks in the know still at SHOT?

I know they're not strobes (and that's what you were asking about)..

but..

the IR chem lights are actually brighter than my MS2000 strobe
(but of course are a 2 hour-at-a-time solution)

the ones I have expired in 2009 and still have plenty of kick ass in them...

Not a strobe either, but I just ordered some IR LazerBrites. Holy heck are they pretty awesome!!!!!! Excellent light source and obviously can also be a marker.

OP I've been building my own. Working on a high power one. I'll post it up when I'm done.

Love it. I figured with ability to buy 850nm (and higher) LEDs easily off the web this wouldn't be all that hard.

Heck it would be sweet if someone could fab a very bright strobe board that would fit a super common modular flashlight. I have a couple of Solar Force L2P's and they already make a lantern head adapter, just need the IR strobe bulb assembly. I imagine with an 18650 you could drive something pretty hard and all the existing mounts/etc would make it incredibly customizable.

Check my thread in here about DIY for a simple to make beacon. You can tape it on a helmet and run it with a 9v or any other battery. All parts are listed and I have a breadboard pic so you know how to wire it.
