Got my iOS camera ordered yesterday.
My question is: can you get an extension cable so that you do not have to mount it directly to the phone? IE: mount the camera behind a spotting scope and hold the phone in your hand. One end of the cable would need a lighting connector male, other end would be lighting connector female. Amazon did not show to have a cable like that. edit: found this: http://www.amazon.com/Lightning-Extension-Through-dockXtender-CableJive/dp/B00GP08858 Does anyone see why this would not work? |

Placed my IOS order 12/15 and shipped 12/17 with tracking number!

The extension cable should work.
On Seek's website, there was a statement concerning Android phones that have the USB backwards for the camera. Basically the camera would only be useful for thermal "selfies" for certain Android devices. Seek suggested a powered USB on the go cable. However their link didn't go to a cable in stock. |

Question: can a thermal device like the SEEK be paired with a day optic to increase range?

I sure hope so Tracking shows it to be on the fedex truck right now and they normally run around 2-3pm. I will post as soon as I get it. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Mine should be here today!! iOS version? I sure hope so Tracking shows it to be on the fedex truck right now and they normally run around 2-3pm. I will post as soon as I get it. Cool! I'll be eagerly awaiting your (and skypup's) review. |
|
Fed-X says I get mine tomorrow, hoping I can run it off my I-Pad too, also I have the extension cable already.
|
|
IT'S HERE!
In the first few minutes of playing with it, I am really impressed for its price tag - easily see moving traffic at 150+yds. I'll post photos/vid later tonight when I get a chance to play with it. |
|
I'm ready to order if the reviews are decent. I will be upgrading to the 6s phone and will just keep my existing phone as a dedicated device
|
|
Another thing I do like about this kit is that it has a nice 36 degree FOV!
|
|
Thanks for the run down, Skypup. Much appreciated. Can't wait to get mine.

So far my favorite color palates are the White Hot and Black Hot.

Does it still have the gradient spot in the corner that was causing an issue? I am not seeing it in any of the pictures?

Ordered!
Sky pup- IF the seek was your only thermal means, how would you use it for scanning for game? Do you spot/stalk hogs in the open? |
|
You certainly can scan off a stand with one for any thermal signature and investigate that with other NV means or use it for finding downed game in the brush day or night.
Positive ID for actually targeting something to begin with is NOT within its realm however. |

figured there was a thread but didn't find it
did a small write-up http://vdmsr.blogspot.com/2014/12/seek-thermal.html |

Saw this today, protective case for the seek camera when used with a cable. $21

android seek app has been updated to 1.7.4.
-gradient appears totally fixed -resolution appears to look better -scaling of the color palettes seems to be improved to give better detail in low variation scenes Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

After SHOT Show and CES 2015, I'm on the fence about getting the Seek Thermal for my Android Lenovo Tablet. I have a birthday coming up in March and my fiance is asking what I would like. She said she's fine with getting me a Seek. However with the new Flir One coming out and the Torrey Pine thermals, wondering if I should wait to see what comes out later this year.
As a side note, for my tablet to use the Seek, I'd have to use an extension cable since the USB port is backwards. The tablet has a 7in screen too. Not sure how well thermals would look on it. Plan is to use it for scanning outdoors and identify with NVGs. Also hope to use around the house for various utility/handy work. |

New model of the Seek, the Seek XR announced at ces. On sale now at their website and amazon for $300. Features a lens that turns in order to focus or adjust the depth of focus. Something like that.

Does anybody know how to disable the automatic contrast scaling on the app? It is very frustrating that everything goes from white to black if something hot appears on the screen...

I guess I'm runied by the Therm-App. This thing is just too low res to be of interest to me.

Question for those who have used this device for a while now: would you pay another $100 to get the just-announced Seek XR with manual focus and more zoom?

View Quote No. I ordered one of the first units for IOS, (Apple) when they first came out and finally got one after a few months of false starts. It's a decent unit, works well and has a lot of features, but $200 seems about right, and the magnification doesn't appeal to me. If I didn't have one or hadn't tried one out, I might be tempted, but $300 is too much for my curiosity. |

Well, apparently the Seek Thermal is now 250$ on amazon? It changed overnight...

Will this camera see hot water lines behind drywall or see the septic tank through the ground? I'm looking for leak

if anyone gets the new zoom model, some outside distance vids would be nice :) +1 I'm assuming the XR has a higher magnification ( doesn't zoom ) - and the ring is to fine tune focus. Here's a vid from 19 Feb 15. Not bad, the XR does extend the range. It may not be optimum for close up / household stuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muQcKAb4EPI |

That YouTube video may have just convinced me to get the seek XR. I've been waiting for some videos and/or reviews to pop up. From what I see for the money, it's a worthy little thermal imager at a pretty impressive price. It puts my flir one to shame in terms of pure darkness usefulness and image quality!
