Hello

I am a pawnbroker which means I have an 02 FFL. I would like to start selling suppressors in my store and I know I need to pay the $500 SOT. I know the renewal date for the SOT is July 1st.

How far in advance of July 1st can I send in the $500 tax and not have to pay it again on July 1st?
Is it as simple as just sending In the tax for the next period and waiting until July 1st until I can start ordering suppressors?

I hope my questions came across clear enough. Thanks for your help.

You can send it now.
I received my renewal notice Thursday.

You have to have your SOT in hand before anyone can begin a Form 3 to send you anything.
They won't process your Form 3 transfers until the new tax period begins.

Thanks DT. I just don't want to pay $500 now only to have to pay $500 again in July. I read through the application and didn't see any info addressing that.

In box 9 of the form, you indicate the effective year by entering the dates

This is EXACTLY what I needed to know. I did not see that when I was looking over the form. Thank you VERY much!

Remember, you are paying for the 2016 tax year that begins July 1st, 2015.
