I'd start with a new spring and see if that does anything. Then try a thicker buffer maybe. Blackjack sells them, or you could carve your own.

A 1/2" to 3/4" buffer should give you around 750 rpm. I generally run a 1" buffer, which gives me about 825 rpm.
I do not believe replacing the spring will have any noticeable effect, particularly since there aren't different strengths available, and your Vector hasn't seen enough to weaken the spring that Vector put in. Uzis are designed to run around 600-625 RPM; switching to hotter ammo will have more of an effect. The buffer has the added bonus of smoothing out full-auto. There are zero drawbacks, AFAIK -- I've been using buffers in mine for over a decade with no issue. They only cost $10 each and just drop in (or out, when you want to). |

Garrett, thanks, that is a very graphic example of how buffers help in Uzis.
The hotness of ammo also contributes, so no two runs have the same ROF unless the ammo is the same (and the springs have had the same use) but I really, really, really like my 1" buffer when I'm shooting 9mm.

Some days it runs great, and others not so much. I haven't played with it for a few years. And yes - it was "take your daughter shooting" day. I think she was around 3 at the time (she just turned 8 the other day - going by way too fast). |
