I guess i need to call as i Sent Individual Form 1 on Oct 26 2009, they got it Oct 29 2009 and check cashed Nov 10 2009 and i have never called them on status etc.

You know it's pending when you call the ATF/NFA Branch a month or so after they cash your check.

Please do not call the ATF.

why not? We have already established that calling the NFA line and speaking to the contractors thats jobs are to answer the phone in no way slows down the process. Its when you speak with the examiners that your taking away from the time they are examining. But again, call all you want, thats what the people that answer the phone get paid for. Just dont call all the time.
Call once every month or two.

I decided to get two lowers engraved and registered as SBRs, since it seems to be easier to do this twice now, rather than repeat the whole process again later.

I am also waiting for a suppressor to get to my class 3 dealer and then I will begin the Form 4 process.

Disregard the person who asks that you not call the BATFE to inquire about your form 1 or 4 status. There is nothing wrong with doing so AND I AM CERTAIN THAT IF THERE WERE, THEY WOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM LETTING YOU/ALL OF US KNOW. They have a person who answers the phone full time. You are not distracting the examiners by calling. They are always very friendly and helpful whenever I called them. Here is the number- start dialing now..... 304-616-4500. Have your serial number for your NFA item ready when you call....

I think we (generically using "we") just look at what type of transfer and if it is a trust/individual. Then the clincher who the examiner is. So me I look at Andrew Ashton's ( he is the examiner) Individual form 4...I see that the time frame for him is around 100 days from "pending" give or take a few days. So the time frame for my examiner is getting shorter, even though he is one of the SLOWEST examiners they have! Over all time frame is getting better than a year ago.

APPROVED YESTERDAY!!!!! APPROVED YESTERDAY!!!!

I just called. Pending since early September with Ashton but apparently Nancy Flanigan approved it yesterday. Not sure why Ashton was my examiner up until last week but I was approved with Nancy.

Either way I dont care. Its APPROVED!!!! YEAH FOR ME!!!

Now I can pick up my M16 once the paperwork comes in.

hey congrats on your first stamp. Good for you and I hope you enjoy your new SBR.

This is my 4th stamp and certainly the longest wait I have had yet. However after calling NFA today for a status check and hearing the nice your lady on the other end say, "well sir great timing.... you were approved yesterday with Nancy Flanigan."

that was like music to my ears.
