I recently just received my C&R license. I see a lot of the Swiss rifles for sale like the K11 and K31. K31s are almost impossible to find. Are these Swiss rifles worth it because I see Aim Surplus has M48s in stock that are the best grades for just under $400 for matching numbers. Normally the m48s go for roughly $299 for good condition but is it woth spending extra for the ones at Aim ?http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?groupid=6043&name=Yugoslavian+Model+M48%2fM48A+8mm+Mauser+Rifles    Are these worth the price over buying a K11 rifle or carbine http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?groupid=5400&name=Swiss+Model+1911+7.5+Swiss+K11+Carbine ? I know that $300 is good for the Swiss rifles but not sure if the Mauser is a better choice for a shooter and collecting perspective.

K31 is in a whole different league compared to a yugo Mauser. Beautifully made and exceptionally accurate, get the K31 or K11. Or any of the swiss 7.5 straight pulls really, my 96/11 is over 100 years old but is a tack driver.

Both are great shooters. The K31 is bound to be more accurate and the straight pull action is a work of art. Mausers of any flavor- M48 included- are great rifles. I'd suggest the K31 first, though.

Man seeing those prices suck, I remember when back around 2003 you could buy a Yugo 48 Mauser for under $100 and the same for the K 31 Swiss too.

I have two of each and about 8K of 8mm Ammo to boot!

Swiss rifles first, then the Mausers.

Thanks. I'm gonna get a  K11. If I like it I'll get a K31 if they ever come back in stock.

SOG has m48s or they did much much cheaper.

Just looked 249 to 279 said be in very good to excellent.

I like Aim but those prices are down right ripoff for a m48

Same here... think AIM is great, but they got screwed with that transaction.

I picked up a M48A off S&W Forum for $295 plus shipping. It is probably the same condition as the $400 ones, and came with a bayonet. When I got the AIM email, made me feel even better about grabbing mine.

I have one also in pretty nice shape. The first time I fired it was like 10 years ago, and that was also te last time it's left the house. My rc k98 gets all the range time.

There are just so many better and cooler options for mausers on the secondary market than the m48 and most can be had for sub 300 or for k98 500.

My favourite shootin' Mauser is an M48A.  Bought it about 15 years ago and way overpaid for it then, although it was unissued.  The M48A is basically an M48 with stamped floorplate instead of machined.

I bought my m48a 15 years ago and is also one of my favorite shooters.....I also way overpaid for my unfired example......$89 from the defunct company FAC.  I also really like my k31 (also paid $89) but am not a fan of the positive pitch to the buttstock, which makes it slide off my shoulder while shooting in any position but prone. YMMV
