Italian rifles are still relatively inexpensive. They are also very well made. For a handgun, you would want to find a M1934 or M1935 Beretta.

M1 carbine didn't have a bayonet lug until post war IIRC.
Nice collection. You need a victory model smith as well. |

Correct. The sight is also incorrect for a war time Carbine. The French fought throughout the war- Mediterranean, Syria, Norway, and ETO. French rifles are still pretty affordable, and they are fine firearms. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I take no pleasure in saying that, and I do so not to rain on the OP's parade, but rather to inform you and others who may not be experienced in this area. It's very important for collectors of old military rifles to be able to discern the difference in appearance between original pieces and those that have been cleaned or refinished. |

Nice collection of classic weapons of war.
You need an M1903A3. Lots of those were used in WWII. Sorry, you can't have mine. |

[#21]
Definitely second the motion on 03-A3 and victory model, plus a real gi 1911 orA1 and a regular 1903 as well ( many pacific land battles fought with the 03 through 1942 and into 43.

My Son and I finished up phase I of our major WWII combatant weapons collection (rifles and pistols of the 5 major participants; USA, Great Britian, Russia, Germany, and Japan). Obtaining the ammo for ones like the Japanese weapons was a bit tough but we finally did it. We've also decided that, because France was only in the war for like 3 months, they're not going to be represented at this time. Further, while we likely will include the Italian's contributions in the future, money constraints don't allow for their acquisition at this time, so they are in the 'still to be acquired' category. In addition, while he has most examples, my son is still obtaining the last of the bayonets, slings, holsters, cleaning kits, etc. for each weapon. Finally, other than the M1 Carbine that I've had for 40+ yrs, we're not currently considering adding any carbines, etc., due to cost constraints. So, with all the ammo in hand, last Sunday, we took all 11 weapons to the range and had a ball shooting each example of the history of WWII. Allies USA: A Correct Grade 1954 HRA 30-06 M1 Garand, pristine 1943 NPM 30carbine M1 Carbine with high wood stock, and a 2011 Springfield 45acp Mil-Spec 1911. Thanks for all the comments and observations. Yes, we know that the German Mauser has a refinished stock, it's also not s/n correct but it's all Nazi marked. Yes, some are rare (type 99 with original stock, chrysanthemum intact, non-reimport, s/n correct incl. dust cover, anti-air sights, mono-pod, bayonet, scabbard, and frog) and some are not (new Springfield 1911 instead of a Colt).
It's our collection for examples of the primary WWII combat arms from only the 5 major participants. There are many, many more items that could be added, however, like everyone, we are resource limited and decided that these fulfilled our desires. Only the M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, German K98, Type 42 Luger, Arisaka Type 99, and Nambu Type 14 are really expensive. For instance, we took the M1 Garand into Cabella's Gun Library and they told us they would list it for sale at $2,295.00 as pictured but w/o the extras we have for it (En-blocs, Case, Bayonet, Scabbard, Cleaning Set, Bolt Tool, M-7 Grenade Launcher & Grenade Sight, M31 Inert Grenade, M1 Grenade Projection Adapter and Dummy Grenade, M11A3 Inert Grenade, etc.). ETA: Nice collection BigBore! I recently saw another Type 94 and grenade that I have my eye on. Further, we didn't include our 1903A3, M1A, or ARs in our 'military' collection. They are of another time. |

Of another time ????
The 03-A3 landed on the shores of North Africa and islands in the Pacific in '42 to start our participation in WWII. It served us well to the very end in 1945. If you have one you should include it in the collection. Not only are they important weapons of WWII, they are beautiful rifles too. |
