I want to buy a Ruger 10-22 and put it into a Magpul Hunter stock; original, I know

If I buy a Ruger 10-22 Takedown, will I still be able to put it into the Hunter stock? I know that I won't be able to utilize the "takedown" function if it is in the stock, but will it still be functional?

Also, assuming that I did this, would I be able to change the barrel on the 10-22 to an after market one?

Im thinking that in this case it would make more sense to buy a standard 10-22 and follow through with my project.

Thoughts?

Thanks

SO lets think about this...

Buy a take down, ditch the barrell and stock.......ummmmmm......

Just buy the bit with the S/N and start from there, or get the WalMart Special and start there....

Didn't know that was an option

I don't have much experience outside of AR's when it comes to rifles.

The barrel and stock are what make the Takedown a Takedown. Fix them as one and you have a regular old 10/22.

You can get your LGS to get the action or just buy one off the shelf from Wally World, which BTW, is my choice if I have to buy a 10/22.

I miss my lil plinker, ( but I have a 15-22 now)

You could go all out and build with precision components.

Heydrich,

Can you please tell me more about the x22 TD stock. How well does the 10/22 fit, does it lock up tight and stay rigid, shots fired does it remain acute?

OK, stock locks up tight.  You can free float the barrel if you want.  I elected to use the spacer for the stnd. factory barrel.
The spacer is an extra support you can use to stabilize and adjust the harmonics of the barrel.
Feels GREAT and solid!  Love the ergonomics and Mlok options that are available.
Just using open sights for now but the groups are tight and consistent.
Fits in the Takedown bag with no problems.
Any other questions or comments I can provide, please let me know!
Just love this stock!

Anyone here have one with a non-fluted bull barrel?  I have a 20" heavy barrel on mine and I'm wondering how it would balance in a Hunter stock.

That's a lot of scope for a .22 TD!

It was a joke I sent to my buddy who owns that scope. Still deciding between a 1-4×24 or primary arms fixed 6x

Got it. I'm considering the x-22 TD stock, any issues with accuracy changes, is it a solid lock?

Lock up is as solid as ever. Haven't had the chance to shoot it yet.
