Hope this isn't too bad of a dupe.

Want!!!  Where can I buy one?

Love that it takes Ruger mags.  Hope it will take drop in triggers.

Needs a threaded barrel option.

Good point.  I've not done much aftermarket with my 10/22s, but I would like too.  Great guns to shoot.

Here is the one I cobbled together

$180 for the base 10/22
$90 for the SARCO M1/22 stock (comes with a steel M1 carbine style buttplate and forward barrel band)
whatever the cost for the TechSights ($75???)
$20 for the reproduction sling and oiler
I sold the original black plastic 10/22 stock for $15

The stock came with an ugly and very brittle, dark lacquer finish. I stripped it to find a blonde Beechwood stock and what looked to be a Walnut handguard. I stained and refinished both pieces to closely match an original Winchester stock I have on a .30 Carbine.

Handled one of these at my dealers on Friday.

Absolutely slick gun.

I'm getting one for sure.

I would like to buy the stock if available... but I don't see it yet... maybe they will sell it independently in the future?

There are more correct looking "M1"stocks for the 10/22 available elsewhere.

You did one very beautiful job on that stock!  I wonder why Sarco gives it such a dark finish?

I think maybe because the two pieces were different species of wood very different in color (at least in my case). The good news is that the SARCO finish practically falls off the wood as soon as you hit it with some Citrustrip. Heck, it was chipping from the moment I installed the stock and every time I took it shooting more of the original finish would chip off. I had to play with different shades of Minwax stains to get the stock and the handguard to look right together and still give me the look I was going for. It wasn't hard, just a little experimenting on the hidden parts of the wood until I figured it out.

However, the SARCO stock is very nice and really captures much of the M1 Carbine look including the faux slot for the non-existent operating rod (it is blanked off with a piece of blued sheet metal that actually helps hold the handguard securely to the stock). It also sports a cupped, steel buttplate very similar to the real thing. The barrel band is also the most "correct" looking and functioning type I have seen on a M1/22.

I really like the looks of the Citadel ones, maybe this entering the market will drive the price on those down even further
