In the process of building a 10/22 SBR and need to get a red dot sight for it. I really like the looks if the reflex sight. Some of the models I have seen are the Burris, Leupold, and some other brands I am not too familiar with. Also what moa do I want for 30 yards on average. Thanks

its going to be all personal preference. I have a burris mirco red dot as well as a sightmark micro red dot, I much rather prefer the burris mainly b/c it has more brightness adjustments.

im sure others who have different micro dots can chime in as well.

Primary Arms Micro Red dot is what I use on all my .22s. Quality is way better than the $89 they cost.

I have a Burris Fastfire III(3MOA) on my Charger. It does a fine job out to 30+

Would a sight mark be any good, I like how they have a bigger window.

I like the Vortex Strikefire, I have one on my HK MP5 SD22 and it's awesome plus you get multiple dot sizes.

Right now it's between the Primary Arms Reflex Sight (PARRS02) and the Burris FastFire III.

Seems too low?  Sure its a III and not old II?

Is it missing the mount?

FFIII with piciitinny usually run over $200.

Give me the link, I will buy another at that price.

FF III is a great sight. I love mine!

link please.

looks like a FFII and not III on that page for $142.99.  Is that what you are talking about?

You dont want a FFII   !!!!!!

I'd look at the Vortex Venom. A little more $$ but not having to sight in after battery changes would be a plus.
The Primary Arms is nice but you stated 30 yards and it's only parallax free after 50 yards so something to consider.

I don't like the FastFire.  My FFII is so dim you can't see the dot outdoors.

I've got a Bushnell TRS-25 on mine, but at 30 yards the Tech Sights work every bit as well.

Fastfire III is plenty bright for outdoors.  At least mine (secondary on an AR) is in full sunlight.

Dot size is a trade off.  Small dot gives you more precise aiming point.  Larger dot is faster for target acquisition.   Leupold covers both bases with its 7.5 MOA triangle with a sharp point at the top.  But, it is about twice as expensive as the FF.

The FF III has a 3 MOA dot, which seems a good compromise at typical dot distances.

I still haven't bought an optic. Going to soon though, what rail do I want?

I just put one of these on one of my 10/22 rabbit chaser. It's pretty damned good, and weighs nothing.

I just bought a used Bushnell Holosight for mine and I'm loving it.

I bought a couple cheap Russian reflex sights for my .22' pistols.  The fuzzy red dot washes out in bright sunlight in my gray gravel pistol shooting bays.  I got a Primary Arms green sight and it is better/easier to see and of course more money.  The washing out slows down target acquisition so the green sight went on my steel challenge pistol and the cheaper sight will go on my ruger charger for rested plinking.

A cheap UTG rail is fine, unless the sight needs to be higher.  I like them with certain stocks because they are lower than many others.

I just ordered the UTG, I will be ordering the Larue Rail sooner than later though

I have a coupla' those.  Great for scopes, but a red-dot? Eh, might be too much, particularly on an SBR.
In fact, for the cleanest look possible, you might consider chopping the rail to about the same length as the sight.  I need to do that for one of mine. Something like this one from Langford at RFC.  (Btw, he mentions in the thread there that it's a Power Custom base and that it sits too high.)
Another option would be to mount it to the rear dovetail on the factory barrel (if you just chop that barrel).

well, here's hoping the sightmark is a good one.  I read a lot of reviews and bought one early this morning with a laser attached.  Some people didn't like the laser too much so I'll see how it is.

Pa microdot! Great optic and you can get the aimpoint micro 10/22 mount for it.

I have a few of the Bushnel TRS-25's and they have been great. I bought my first one after seeing so many of them being used and after reading a lot of great reviews on it.
