First I want to get a bolt action with iron sights.  Must haves are stainless steel (corrosion resistance), light weight, and short length of pull .

Second I want to get a stripped 10/22 pattern receiver to squirrel away and build it up later as they get older.  I know there's several out there but don't have any experience with any of them.

Price isn't a big deal, in fact I'd gladly spend more for quality.

Much obliged.

How little are the kids?

Savage Rascal is a nice rifle for little ones.

Henry Mini-bolt or Acu-bolt are nice small  and stainless.

A Ruger American Rimfire Compact is nice, but not stainless.

Savage MKII or Marlin XT-22 for older/bigger kids.

As far as a 10-22 style receiver,

Kidd and Volquartsen are very nice, as are NDS/ Nodak Spud receivers.

Thanks.  Kids are too young now, but the liberals in Seattle are forcing my hand with an idiotic anti-second amendment referendum that's likely to pass here in November.  So I'm buying for them sooner than I want to.

CZ 452 scout/youth is also another great option.  I just sold my daughter's 452 because she loves her yellow Savage Rascal.  The Rascal is only a single shot, but it does come with an accutrigger.
