Man, that turned out nice!! You will love those CCI standard velocities for accuracy. I'm sending them downrange through a supressor and at 100, making 2" groups on a calm day and I'm certain the group would be even smaller if I were using a "Lead Sled."

Thanks.  I went with the Forest Camo laminate because this will be a general purpose rifle and I wasn't after the tactical look or feel.  It'll spend a fair amount of time hunting.

I've done a ton of reading on the 'net since purchasing my FV-SR and all indicators say exactly what you say:  CCI SV shoots well in FV-SRs.

I'm hoping mine will follow that trend since CCI SV makes up the majority of my meager .22 stash.  Find out real soon.  Plan on doing the majority of my range shooting between 100 and 200 yards, might play out as far as 250.  We'll see how it goes.

Gonna put a hurt on the local squirrel and rabbit population with it as well.

You guys are making it insanely hard to decide on stocks.  I want my 10PC to match the FVSR and I keep going between the Tacticool and the Featherweight/Classic style stocks.  Month to decide.

Please let me know how that performs out past 100. I've always been curious about that.
Have fun squirrel hunting. I don't live in a area where I can do alot of that and I miss it!

Few new not-so-good pictures of my Savage. Took these a while ago but abandoned them to finish my thesis, so I only just now got to editing/posting them. I still suck at rifle pictures...

Thanks! BSA Sweet 22 3-9x40. Great experience with it so far. It replaced a 4-16x that cost twice as much but just wouldn't hold zero (on a .22!...).

Here's mine. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics.

OEM stock with DIP bottom metal ( had to remove some material from the stock to make it flush), textured grip made with PC-7 epoxy, TRIAD stock pack (I'm a lefty, so that's why the packs on the wrong side), PA 4-16 scope and a Rustoleum camo job.

Savage really needs to do a run of these in a left hand action.

When I ordered my Mark II GL the store had about half dozen offers to buy my rifle in the four days it was in the display rack while waiting for me to pick it up.

This is five rounds of Aguila high velocity at 25 yards with a Primary Arms red dot fired off a bench rest. That's four rounds in one hole.

Question about a scope for my Mark 2.

I was going to order THIS , what size rings should I get?
Link Posted: 10/11/2014 8:52:47 PM EDT
[#27]
Medium 1" should work fine with the drop you have because of the rail. I would however, take it with you when you choose the rings to make sure because that is a very short scope comparatively. Also, that scope has a small protruding screw on the bottom side of the turret body (like many others),  that can interfere with the scope rail if you get too low. Great scope for the money. You will like it. Beware that it has a yellow tint to the glass. This is the coating BSA uses. Think of it as working like a set of yellow blue blocking sun glasses. It works well.

Ordered a FR-SV from a local shop for 228.99 and it should be in tomorrow.  Already have a tacticool boyds stock and DIP kit backordered through DIP.  Going to top it with a PA 4-16 scope.

Now I just have to get some spacers ready...to bad I moved recently and my calipers are at a buddies house 5 hours away.  I bet I can wing it and it will only take a little more work getting it just right.

Picked up some new glass for the FV-SR.  This is a great deal I couldn't pass up:  http://www.midwayusa.com/product/652526/weaver-classic-v-series-rifle-scope-6-24x-42mm-adjustable-objective-matte.  $241.62 with the Ballistic-X reticle.

Gonna pick up a DIP 25 MOA mount for the FV to get out to 200 yards with it.

Need some advice. I am going to pick up one of these soon, but was wondering what you all thought about it being the rifle I introduce my daughters to shooting with.

Does the size work from kids around 8? Easy to operate?

Thanks
Link Posted: 10/27/2014 7:43:13 PM EDT
[#39]
It is easy to operate with a great trigger. It's a heavier well built rifle especially with an aftermarket stock but it's accuracy can't be beat for the $$$. For a child, it's a ton of fun if you are shooting bench rest
but for standing and shooting.....not so much. Just my .2 cents.

Dusted the fvsr off and took it out for some accuracy testing. Shot 8 5 round groups at 100 yards. Averaged 1.7moa. Smallest group was 1.34moa and largest was 2.6moa(cold bore and a loaded bipod). Rifle was quite dirty before I shot the groups, about 400 rounds through it with about 100 of them suppressed. Happy with the results. I'll clean it up and shoot for some groups again. Love these little guns. Need to get a .22 can!

Got my new Weaver V-24 scope mounted on the FV-SR.  Installed my DIP 25 MOA rail as well.  Very pleased with both.

The angle of the 25 MOA rail causes the objective of the V-24 to come very close to the barrel.  There was plenty of clearance between the scope objective and the barrel with the factory rail.

You can slide a business card between the scope's objective and the barrel, but that is it.
