Looks great! Nice work.
I just got the PA 4-16x44 Scope. Love it. Great scope for under $200. Quoted:
Here's mine. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics. OEM stock with DIP bottom metal ( had to remove some material from the stock to make it flush), textured grip made with PC-7 epoxy, TRIAD stock pack (I'm a lefty, so that's why the packs on the wrong side), PA 4-16 scope and a Rustoleum camo job. http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o570/tigr2127/2014-07/7056F7D6-249E-4151-BB33-2DEE261A9BE9_zpsz8upmteg.jpg http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o570/tigr2127/2014-07/8DB57F9C-EBDF-496F-9C9E-DCB44F3391D9_zpsw3bsywgl.jpg http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o570/tigr2127/2014-07/B9205453-62E6-49CB-9E9E-A89C9536288F_zpsculbbicp.jpg http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o570/tigr2127/2014-07/7C1243D8-E0DA-4E31-B4D7-0214EEBA01FA_zps43lq0afn.jpg View Quote |

Thanks! It was a fun project. I am really impressed with the quality of the scope for the price.

My MKII F, still a work in progress. I have to get a better camera!! Have a 6-12X on the way, need to order a couple extra mags. The paint on the stock is rattle can grey with b/w texture and a matte coat. Action and barrel are rattle can enamel with the matte clear coat. While zeroing, I was using my cousin's all in one shooting bench, got up and stood on the square tubing. We were on the grass under some shade, and when I stepped off the seat, the bench shifted, and the rifle fell off the bench. Didn't knock the scope out of zero, but scratched the barrel. Glad I didn't duracoat!!

Congrats on your new acquisition. I love mine. The Tacticool Stock is better in every way. You will want to either Piller Bed it or use the Nylon Spacer Method (Post is on Pg. 56 of this thread), or you will hear the wood creak and grown as you tighten the barrel up and it will negatively affect your accuracy. I used the Nylon Spacers and they are cheap, quick, and work perfectly.

Thanks for the heads up on the nylon spacer and especially the page number. I've only read up to around page 36 so far.
I have everything except the suppressor ordered. Should have done that a long time ago but was waiting for the efile Form 4 to be back up. Should have just done paper file a long time ago. |

That's a great price for that rifle. My question is how is the cheek weld? I went to a Tacticool stock because it provides a great cheek weld and not a chin weld like the factory stock plus IMHO, it just looks way better.

So I was going to order a Boyds stock for my MKII but after shooting at 100yds the other day I'm thinking that maybe I shouldn't change a thing. What do you guys think? Bone stock FR-SV CCI SV ammo All groups are 5rnds. The flyers were my doing, not the rifle. Hopefully when I get around to buying actual match grade ammo and hang real targets that I can better align the scope on, the vertical stringing will go away, but I am still proud of what I'm doing with the CCI ammo, a Bushnell 3-9x40, and a rifle I paid $209 for http://i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b486/ricmock2/20140717_091650_zps1161c1ff.jpg?t=1405680130 http://i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b486/ricmock2/20140717_095221_zps5563aa9c.jpg?t=1405680425 http://i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b486/ricmock2/20140717_095228_zps83655273.jpg?t=1405680569 http://i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b486/ricmock2/20140717_101802_zpsa082d76c.jpg?t=1405680696 http://i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b486/ricmock2/20140717_091658_zps795fb325.jpg?t=1405680862 View Quote |

Nice groups.
There's no way I could leave the original stock on the rifle. I'd have to rest the side of my jaw on the stock. Maybe if the gun had iron sights, then it would work. It at least needs something aftermarket to raise the cheek weld up. |

Got to shoot mine suppressed this weekend. I was using Aguila Rifle Match 40g first. It was pretty quiet but still had a little noise to it. I was under a covered porch shooting into a hill 40 yards away, so echo would be a factor. Then I shot the Aguila SSS (Sniper Subsonic) 60g rounds, 950 fps. It looks like a .22 short case with a lot of lead in front to make it LR length. Holy smokes they were quiet. All you hear is the pin hit the case and the bullet hitting the target. If you haven't tried them, I would suggest trying them at least once.

Liquidmetal, thanks for the tip on JoeBob's, i have been looking for 10rds for a while. Everyone seems out of stock
BTW, loving my FV-SR. Did the DIP parts, Boyds stock, Mueller ATP and the "Boyds Spacer Mod" and last weekend at 50yds, it was shooing one ragged hole. Didn't seem to like the Outback attached to it as much, but it could of been me too (was getting tired). I ordered the Apache Trigger mod, but have yet to install. Not sure I am going to at this point, we'll see. I am quite happy with it AS IS |

Hello all, I just recently picked up a Savage MK 2 FV-SR. I've shot about a 100 rounds through it at my local indoor range. I currently have a Harris bi pod and a cheap BSA scope that does fairly well at 25 yards. I found the original stock to be terrible and too low to get a good cheek weld. I just ordered a Boyd's stock and DIP bottom metal with trigger guard. I have heard the wood is very thin at the action of the Boyd's stock and is prone to crack. Will nylon spacer fix this or help with not cracking? I plan on getting a Mueller APT 4.5-14x40, will weaver low rings work for this scope? What size rings do you guys recommend I get? Also what size flip up caps for do I need. I apologize for the many questions I'm somewhat a noob to the precision rifle community. I will be shooting max 100 yards and still waiting for my Specter II to get out of jail hopefully in December. Any help would be great! Thanks

Picked up my FV-SR from the dealer on Monday.
Got my Mueller Tac II 3-10x44 mounted on the rifle with some Weaver Grand Slam rings. Medium height rings turned out to be just right, got about 3/16" clearance between the scope's objective and the barrel. Leaves some room for Butler Creek flip-ups. Installed the A2 flash hider. Filed on the backside on the flash hider until it timed right on the rifle when tight. Touched it up with some cold blue and secured it with Rocksett. It's not going anywhere unless I want it to. 10 round mags from JoeBob's showed up ahead of the rifle, as did the DIP bottom metal. My Boyds Rimfire Hunter stock (Forest Camo color) should be here Friday. Just in time for some weekend shooting. Once the stock is on, I'm calling it done. |

Nice, positive finger-adjustable turrets. It has 95 MOA of elevation adjustment, which is quite a bit and very helpful with a .22. Stock showed up with a dent in it . It was double boxed and there wasn't a mark on either box, which leads me to believe it left Boyds that way. I'm going to keep the stock. It fits the barreled action beautifully and I'll put more dents/scuffs in it along the way anyway, Boyds just got the first one done for me free of charge. Got 2 bricks of CCI standard velocity to keep it fed. Still need to get some Butler Creek flip-ups for the scope. Pic: http://s20.postimg.org/oargib1ml/FV_SR_011.jpg View Quote |
