Maybe. In some pix it looks a little different. If you want a winter-weight M-43 type cap, go to

Does not have the un-necessary peak of the M-43, but is the functional equivalent. I had to install a snap to tame the long
end of the strap that protruded from the buckle of the otherwise
properly-fitting cap. YMMV. First cap arrived with some of the side grommets mis-installed. Sent it back, and Filson, for whatever reason, took their time on sending me a new one, which was perfect. Very nice hat, any way you look at it, an my everyday winter hat, replacing my 1944 C.C.C. cap--which was modeled after caps of the German style. Not cheap, but well worth the money for a versatile mild/intermediate winter hat.
I have NO idea on how to clean the thing except by dry-cleaning, and some dry cleaners will guarantee non-shrinkage of cotton wool items, and some won't. This thing is all wool and cotton, so choose dry cleaner carefully, or wash in Woolite and cold water by hand. That being the case, I'd buy some wax from Filson at the same time as purchasing the cap. Although, proper application of modern DWR to the freshly dry-cleaned cap might be a better idea, now that I think of it.
I'm quite happy with it now. I'd buy another, if I needed it. That said, Stormy Kromer caps are an alternative that I considered, but did not buy. I have examined SK hats since purchasing my Filson, and while the style is different, the quality is self-evident.
Neither one is a true bitter-cold-weather cap, so be advised. For that, consider a variant, of the Russian ushanka:

Personally, I would not buy anything from Russia, but the hat concept is valid, and there are many other vendors. YMMV.
