Waterproof boonies are an awesome thing.....if you can find one. I far prefer them when its raining and I'm out training, etc... as it allows me to still hear around me, unlike a hood. A wide brim is necessary to keep the water off of you, and running onto your rain coat instead of down your neck, etc.. The problem, is actually finding one that works. I like the ones from Tru-Spec and actually have 3 of them. I did trim the brim down on them just a smidge, but that is easy enough to do. The problem is, after you've been out in a hard or steady rain for more than about 10-15 minutes, they start leaking around the threads around the crown. I've tried using seam sealer on one, but for every row of thread I seal, the water finds another to start to leak through.
